URGENT Debt Ads on Childrens TV
Comments

I agree with you on this - I HATE those adverts, whether on any channel, but yes, worse on children's channels.
On the other hand, I have used them to good account, our 14yos now reads out all the small print where it tells you how much extra you would have to pay, & looks at all the interest rates & compares them to the one we told him we got with the nationwide for our mortgage!!!0 -
Don't watch children's TV apart from Nick Jr at night when it has the golden oldies on! BUT I will let everyone I work with know about this and try and enlist their help. I think the whole ethos of advertising in children's TV is wrong - the scandinavians can manage without it!! I particularly think it's unjust in the run-up to Christmas (i.e. from now onwards). I don't remember such aggressive marketing of all products to children when I was a child and that's not that long ago! More power to you Martin. I will keep you informed as to what the workmates provide me with.
GillianBut I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green0 -
I don't have a telly.
But do agree that is is disgusting advertisng those sort of products during Kiddies TV.
Bad enough with the toys and junk food they push during kiddies telly.
Best of luck.

Our 14yos who is home educated, has just finished his work & has decided to carry out some research on your behalf.
I suspect him of wanting an excuse to watch cartoons at a time when I normally insist on documentaries or some activity other than watching TV. Am I being too suspicious here, or is this a genuine desire on his part to further the MSE cause????0 -
This iis really fab. To let you into a secret of whats going to happen.
On Friday (though the day may change)
1. I will be sending a special email to all site recipients 260,000 about the campaign (and asking them to forward it)
2. I am launching a petition on friday (though i will open it on the site earlier for testing)
3. MPs have agreed to put an early day motion to parliament about it
4. I will be writing to the chief execs of the childrens channels requesting they stop the ads
5. I'm launching a big PR push to get the papers and TV to cover it.
So cross your fingers that it works, hence any data on the ads, for today and tomorrow would be great

Our littlun only watches C-Beebies (or his Bob The Builder DVD), so I can't be much help to you. I wholeheartedly back the campaign, though! GOOD LUCK!0

Im looking to launch a 'no debt ads on childrens TV channels' campaign later this week and I need some help.
If you're watching any of the childrens TV channels this week and you see an ad for a secured loan company - ocean finance, purple finance (anything with Carol Vordeman in) then please can you report it here with the
Channel, company advert, rough time, what programme.
It'd be very helpful
Martin
This is a great idea !
I am against all forms of advertising to kids and wish that the whole lot could be banned !To infinity and beyond!0
