  • Can you open this if you still have the Christmas RS running?
Yes, but only if you've been a customer for 12+ months. I hoped to apply for it but I do not count as a loyal customer, apparently, as I have 'only' had an account with them for 11 months as opposed to 12.

Try every way to take it out, app, desktop, logged in and not logged in.
I kept £10 in an account and closed it last week for the 5% account.
It would not let me join.
App First, then desktop logged in. Both failed.
Then web page again not logged in and we through.
  • Down to 3 regular savers now.
    Skipton 7.5%
    YBS 7%
    First Direct 7%.
£1050 a month, savings to regular savings to savings and round and round it goes.
Fairly similar but I have my Xmas one with YBS and still have the Nat West one at 6%.

Tempted to close the latter if its possible.

Then you might be like me........not a loyal customer so by inference we are disloyal customers or even worse neither.......relegated to the middle ground, a nobody an unworthy applicant wannabe. Who cares ? I've been called worse!I

I'm not really sure that they'd want me anyway....unemployed, jobseeking, Spanish bullfighter....don't know what's the matter with this country, I can't find a suitable job anywhere.

    Usual problems with YBS.

It also looks like they have resurrected the new website layout again (the one which didn't work last time).

I've tried applying twice, I get to the "Open account" button on the "Review & Confirm" page, at which point the site dumps me out to the main login screen.

If that's what it is caused by, going back to the 'new' website just before launching a likely very popular account won't have been the best business decision YBS have made lately.

I found that despite being shown the login screen again when I scrolled down the option to apply was there. Deceptive!
    I've now found a workaround.

Rather than logging in first and then starting the application within online banking, I instead went to the product page on the general website and started the application from there - logging in as an existing customer when prompted to do so.

All worked OK when I did it that way round.
that trick didn't work for me (it kept saying I wasn't eligible - tried different browsers) - but seemingly what did work was using the app, applying via there - which redirects you to their site to login as normal, which I did (on the phone) and it allowed me to progress with the application - it's not showing in the app, but is showing on the site when I login (account number not real!)...

I did get the option to deposit at the end of the application, but I didn't bother - the deposit button doesn't work on the site for this account currently.. I suppose I could do a bank transfer to it, but i'll wait and see if it's really open tomorrow and fund then.
Neither worked for me. Tried all sorts of ways around it, as suggested above and beyond, but still not eligible...Drat.

Just opened the 6.2% RS with Tipton & Coseley, did it on the App but they're posting me the ID reference. Till then I'm in limbo (I'm a former customer but going back maybe a decade).

Last time I had something similar the lovely postmen went on strike so that was a right pigs ear......
I did in the app as a new customer. They are posting the ID, but informed me the account number etc on the screen before that. So I can deposit, just can't use the app until the code arrives.

If yours was the same, you are not in limbo. Maybe you didn't write the details down?

Manged to open YBS Loyalty ReS @7%. Got account number ok. However it`s a pain that they insist on posting 3 ID documents (one name and two address) despite the fact that I have 8 different accounts with them! I cannot make a deposit until these are ratified.

Crazy they still do that even when you already have accounts. I had that happen when trying to open an account as a new customer. I'd both heard and read on their website they used that hooyu system but apparently not because it didn't even try to use it for me, just instantly said it couldn't electronically verify and wanted proof either via post or via a branch. Only upside was they don't seem to require certified copies.
I also have 3 ybs accounts but have been asked to provide id, although the regular saver is showing as open on the app. Have sent a £1 to see what happens.

York BS - I didn't use the reference number, what will happen to my transfer?

They might return it. From memory isn`t the reference number the same as the account number with an 07 added on at the end?
That's why all my YBS savings accounts end in 07  :D

Can't you just ignore the request for ID if you already hold multiple accounts with YBS ?
