Kent Reliance - what if you used the RS in the normal way, depositing monthly and collecting at maturity, without ever having physically picked up the passbook? I had a KRRS a few years ago that I opened while on a trip to London (the interest rate meant the train fare was worth it and it was a nice trip out) so I will be on their system somewhere.

On the Bucks RS Locals, I got this account a while back when it was 2%, by being an existing customer even though not in their postcode areas. With unlimited withdrawals, I use it as an instant access account
hat is my personal experience for withdawal you will need to send your passbok !!
Is there any way to request the transfer to the link account without the need to send your passbook ??

Bucks have been allowing withdrawals with an email instruction, at least they did at the beginning of May, if done early enough in the day it'll be the same day. They'll do it without the passbook, that can be updated later on. Ring them first if in any doubt!

Allied Irish Banks have said they are currently no longer opening new personal savings accounts (and that this is not related to Covid-19).  They are aware that saving comparison sites are listing them as available but, apparently, this is now incorrect information.

If I close a Virgin Regular Saver (passbook version) before the 12 months is up, will I still get the interest added up to the closing date, with no penalties?

If the T&Cs are anything like the T&Cs for the online Virgin RS, you will be able to close the account early without penalty, i.e. you get interest up to withdrawal.

the last thing I would contemplate doing is closing a RS paying 3% interest.

How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)
