    If anyone still has a Santander RS paying 5%, you may as well bin it. They have today launched a limited edition Easy Access account paying 5.2% (available until 17/9), so you may as well open that and put your money in there. Full discussion on Easy Access thread.
    Every now n again someone comes along and rocks the boat!

    It's meant a busy morning closing accounts, withdrawing balances to minimums, reducing S/Os to minimums, cancelling S/Os, cancelling/emptying round ups, emptying other EA and updating my spreadsheet.

    Love it !

    Can you declare your interest as earnings then?  ;)

    @Bridlington1
    Think it was you who did a list of RS acs you (one) can close without notice or penalty?
    It'd be really useful to have 'to hand' since the Santander 5.2% ripples, but I can't find it now - do you have a link?
  • Satisfied Monmouthshire customer here, two letters arrived over the weekend and two accounts funded as of this morning. Their very competitive rates at the moment more than outweigh any minor procedural clunkiness. IMO.
    Can you fund the MONBS RS Issue 2 straight away? I thought I had to wait until they've received my signed letter and registered me etc.

    If you've got the 10-digit account number then you can add funds.

    You may wish to wait until you have online access if you want to verify the deposit.

    Just spoken on the phone to Stafford Railway Building Society, their Regular Saver now accepts up to £1,000 per month and the interest is going up to 5.15% from 1st October 2023. Plus you can start with a lump sum (£1,000 I think), so potentially in the first month you can put in £2,000. No term on it, so only deposit restriction is a maximum of £100k in the account.
    Saving goal for 2025: £17,561/£30,000 (58%)
    Saving goal for 2024: £27k - achieved
  • I received my Monmouthshire Savings Passbook in the post today .... I haven't had a passbook for a good 30 years I think!  It's so cute 😊
