I applied on Tuesday for the 7% saver and I have not received an email, text or anything in the post so far,
I am wondering whether to pursue with it, because if it is this tedious to just set an account up, what is it like trying to withdraw money from it.
The website is the same platform used by many building societies, simple, but perfectly adequate and many BS still issue passbooks.
What were you expecting ? Something in the post already would be exceptionally quick, unrealistic and beyond most societies.I would have at least expected an email or text confirming my application. I suppose that I am just used to how slick and efficient the majority of bank websites or apps are for applications.0 -
I love the Monmouthshire B/Soc.....already got 2 accounts with them. When we were in Cardiff recently I blew them a kiss thru the window as we walked past. Don't suppose that's gonna speed up my 2 new applications but we like a good laugh.2

I applied for the accounts early Wednesday morning. I didn't receive any e-mails from them prior to receiving my passbook and letter in the post this morning.
The accounts were very popular and they have received a lot of applications.
If you only applied for the 7.00% RS, then you must be new to Monmouthshire Building Society. Accounts for new customers usually take longer to be processed than accounts for existing customers.
Please be patient with them. I think you'll hear from them within the next few working days (maybe sooner).
Regarding making withdrawals from them. If you have a nominated account setup, then making withdrawals is very straightforward via their online banking service. Please call me 'Kazza'.4 -
For those who have online accounts with the Monmouthshire. I added my new accounts opened in branch on Wednesday via the website that day. Today they have moved from pending to now showing my initial deposits.I also like them but it is certainly advantageous when you are local and can just drop into a branch.3

The signature requirement document shows the account number. As I know their Sort code and their account number (I have existing accounts), I toyed with the notion of doing a faster payment. Decided against it as there is still time.
Their letter btw was dated yesterday, posted second class post yesterday - and arrived today Friday!1 -
re Monmth - email receied "log on and add your new account (which one 7 or8%?). Not showing !0

Probably the first time I've ever won anything in my life.
