I am an existing Monmouthshire BS member. I downloaded, completed and posted off a savings application form for the account on Thursday 13th April, along with a cheque and a letter.
They opened the Coronation Regular Saver account for me the next day (14th April). I have received the passbook and account confirmation letter in the post today.
In the past some building societies were keen on sending application forms by post, so I was hoping that Monmouthshire might still do it.If you want me to definitely see your reply, please tag me @forumuser7 Thank you.

I research before my posts, and I never intend to share anything that is misleading, misinforming, or out of date, but don't rely on everything you read. Some of the information changes quickly, is my own opinion or may be incorrect. Verify anything you read before acting on it to protect yourself because you are responsible for any action you consequently make... DYOR, YMMV etc.3 -

Beverley Building Society is increasing the rate on their monthly saver from 25th of April according to the 'our rates' section of their page. The new rate has not been decided yet. https://beverleybs.co.uk/savings/savings-rates/
3% no bonus
3.5% with bonus

Whilst I'm here I can't see it mentioned anywhere so Principality FHS new interest rates are as follows:
£1-£2.5k pays 3.4%
£2501-£7.5k pays 3.6%
£7501+ pays 4.1%If you want me to definitely see your reply, please tag me @forumuser7 Thank you.

Just thought I'd share some info that was mentioned to me by a branch worker when I opened the Monmouthshire BS Coronation Saver recently; they are apparently developing an app at the moment which they are hoping to release later this year, so should be a bit more convenient for those of us who prefer using apps to access their accounts14

Spoke to Monmouth llast Friday and said I was sending my application form and wanted to pay by bank transfer. They said fine and asked me where I was sending it and I said the head office address at the bottom of the form, which they said was also fine.

Some societies much smaller than H&R are able to accept online applications for at least some of their range. To name a few: Ecology 39th, SRBS 38th, Chorley 36th, Harpenden 35th, Bath 32nd, Mansfield 28th, Scottish 26th, Dudley 25th, MHBS 24th, Melton 23rd.
Ultimately, online applications are much more convenient, but it is a cost some societies aren't willing to incur at these stage. It just depends on how important they view it to be - and likely also member feedback, combined with demographic data (if a society wants to attract younger members (young adult kind of age), they will be more likely to put funds towards developing their technology). Bear in mind, some societies will be in the early stages of developing such processes, so may not be willing to reveal their plans to members yet. The AGM tends to be the best place to ask these questions I find, especially if you can submit it beforehand, to ensure a comprehensive response. If you want me to definitely see your reply, please tag me @forumuser7 Thank you.
