Some info for anyone who cannot get to a Monmouthshire Building Society branch, but wants to open their Coronation Regular Saver, paying 5.60%:

I am an existing Monmouthshire BS member.  I downloaded, completed and posted off a savings application form for the account on Thursday 13th April, along with a cheque and a letter.

They opened the Coronation Regular Saver account for me the next day (14th April).  I have received the passbook and account confirmation letter in the post today.

Thanks Kazza.  I posted to the Mon BS my application form with cheque on 19th April; they opened the Coronation RS account on 20th; I received the passbook by post today; and my cheque cleared already.  I don't much like writing cheques, but I'll make an exception for such an appealing RS account.

Were you an existing member, or new? I'm umming and ahhing about attempting to open one, but have never had any dealings with them before.
Yes, I am an existing member of Monmouthshire BS.
I wanted to open Coronation when it was released, but didn't do it because it says "branch only". I'm reading now that it is possible to open it by post.  Do you know if I can request them to send me the application form.  I'm existing member, I've opened Christmas with them about 6 months ago.
You can use this form: https://www.monbs.com/media/2032/savings-application-form-march-2022-savapp-03-22-1.pdf
Thanks. That's the same one I've used for Christmas application.  This was the last time my printer printed,  it packed in since then and I've decided not to invest in any more printers, hardly any need for having printer anymore.

In the past some building societies were keen on sending application forms by post, so I was hoping that Monmouthshire might still do it.
I don't have a personal printer any longer either......it's saved me loads of money on ink. What I do is use my local library who charge 20p per A4 sheet. One of my better money saving decisions.
My local library has been closed down many years ago, but I've managed to get my printer half working.  Although the cartridges are full of ink it doesn't do colour and greyscale print is very patchy... I've sent my application and included £3 cheque made out to myself.  Sent it to Monmouth branch, I've checked the image on google, the door has a letter box so my letter should land on the floor of that branch. I hope it will work, otherwise it will be a waste of 75p :)
    A £3 cheque?
Minimum balance for the coronation RS. I personally sent a £300 cheque with it being so close to the end of the month. It was successfully opened

Makes sense, it would've been wiser to add two zeros.  Because it's the last week of the month I didn't think there is much chance for my account to be opened and funded before May.

    Thank you @Kazza242 :)

Beverley Building Society is increasing the rate on their monthly saver from 25th of April according to the 'our rates' section of their page. The new rate has not been decided yet. https://beverleybs.co.uk/savings/savings-rates/
    Interest rate will be:
    3% no bonus
    3.5% with bonus

Source: a very nice lady at the Beverley branch

Whilst I'm here I can't see it mentioned anywhere so Principality FHS new interest rates are as follows:
    £1-£2.5k pays 3.4%
    £2501-£7.5k pays 3.6%
    £7501+ pays 4.1%
New Beverley BS rates confirmed, as above, on Moneyfacts. 3.50% with bonus, 3% without bonus

Just thought I'd share some info that was mentioned to me by a branch worker when I opened the Monmouthshire BS Coronation Saver recently; they are apparently developing an app at the moment which they are hoping to release later this year, so should be a bit more convenient for those of us who prefer using apps to access their accounts :)
Great news! Given the recent rollout of Bath BS's mobile app, it seems maybe the almost universal online systems provider is trying to drum up interest in partnering with the societies to release new mobile apps. They all do share a similar online platform after all, I wonder how similar the apps will be.

Thank you for sharing. Good news.  I wish they would also develop an application system that doesn't require sending letters and ownerships of printers.
Yes I agree, does seem a bit archaic having to go into a branch or send a letter to open an account these days, but I guess for some of the smaller BS's the cost to move everything online is maybe too high for them to outweigh the benefits.

Saffron is also small, but somehow they manage to deal with applications electronically.
