Good thing is if the interest rates go up significantly I can ditch the R Saver and stick in a fixed account.0 -

Hi Everybody,
I have changed the following items on page 1 of this thread for this weekend's update.
- Virgin Money Home Buying Coach Regular Saver (Issue 11) updated from issue 10 to issue 11 (same interest rate of 1.75% but maturity date now 2 months later than with issue 10)
Thanks cosh25 for mentioning the new Beehive account paying 1.20% fixed on up to £500 per month (but note the interest rate is fixed and there is no access to the funds until 6th April 2023, which seems pretty bad in the current environment of rising interest rates). At the end of the month, I am very likely going to change the criteria for inclusion on this thread so that the minimum interest rate is 1.75%, or 1.25% if there are particularly good account conditions. With that in mind, I am not going to add this Beehive account.
I will do the next update next weekend (or the weekend after if I do not have enough time next weekend).

This is not aimed at any individual, but I find that even the most prolific of contributors to this thread at times go off tangent...when it suits them, but then also complain here when someone else does it.
Why not just live and let live? it's not helpful when some start telling others what they can and can't do unless it's blatantly posted in the wrong forum. AFAIC if its loosely connected to RS then let it be and if you're not interested just skip over it rather than doing your best Victor Meldrew !
Meanwhile, returning to the slightly calmer, much drier and more financially orientated world of Regular Savings Accounts, is it perhaps generally a good idea right now not to apply for fixed rate regular savers paying less than 2% AER because of the likelihood of several B of E base rate rises within the next few months? All thoughts on this very welcome, please.0 -

Except those where there is no penalty to either withdraw or close.
