  • Descrabled surely it is better to have your savings in a regular saver paying 1% than an easy access account paying far less?

My maths is not great but when you can get easy access at 0.60% from the likes of Saga compared to 1% RS can’t be much in it.

I have had dozens of RS but now as they come to and end, I’m putting my cash elsewhere for now.

Just put a load into a 0.86% for six months plus an extra £20 from Raisin that’s got to be competitive to a 1% RS?

Yes I do understand some can’t find lump sum cash to save in one go but if you have the money six months is no time to wait.

I choose the rooms that I live in with care,
The windows are small and the walls almost bare,

I listen all night for your step on the stair.

Anyone still waiting for their Chorley maturity money?

Was sent on  31/10 by BACS apparently.
Me.  But awaiting a few maturity funds from other building societies today but probably not arrive until late in the day.  You state BACS that takes longer than faster payment interesting to see when it will arrive.
My previous Chorley maturity was sent by BACS on 30/6 (Wednesday) and reached my current account on 5/7 (Monday) so 4 working days.

Therefore, Chorley maturities will probably reach our accounts on Thursday at the earliest.
  • Speculator - sorry my Chorley BS does not mature until end of month. Should have realised as I sent a faster payment yesterday which is showing in the account. I do not use standing orders for Chorley BS. Thanks for the heads up about BACS payment.

Any deposits in RSs at 1.00% that I have need to be withdrawable or accessible via closure. That makes them part of my 'ready money' (eg for more interesting RSs) and they pay a better rate than ready access.

Keeping at least one RS in a building society can also offer the chance of a future loyalty RS à la Skipton et al.

I wonder what the BofE will do on Thurs. Increase rate? Might prompt a few better RSs...maybe

I'm still waiting. It should normally be in by close of business today.
  • My two Monmouthshire maturities i.e. Regular Saver 5 and Christmas Saver have just arrived in my nominated account

Think it's going to be Thursday unfortunately.

My previous Chorley maturity via BACS took 4 working days.
