They'd need to try a lot harder to get any of my money. Oh, and have an account that can be opened and operated without the need to go anywhere near a branch.

First Direct still haven’t got the hang of this digital banking malarky, or working towards getting carbon neutral.

I opened my 11th RS with them last week and today they sent me half a tree, incl the exact same letter twice (in the same envelope).

All of the important info is online, so everything is now in my recycling bin.

Totally agree. Are financial institutions legally obliged to send this stuff?  I suspect not. If I had a pound for every £85K protection letter I have received over the years. I am uncomfortable with my families paper footprint. Out of interest do you shred your bumf as well as ink stamping over confidential data before recycling? We are very careful what goes in our recycling bin. I encountered a bloke at midnight with a rucksack rummaging through the recycling bins at the end of our road - he quickly scarpered! Shredded paper is not accepted by our council for recycling. I try to put ours in our garden compost bin and mix it well in with plenty of organic material.

They are legally obliged to provide the information but nobody forces them to fell a tree for it. I have lots and lots of accounts with all sorts of current, savings and investment account providers and most seem to manage to provide all necessary documents and communication electronically. FD, HSBC for a specific account, Coventry BS when you close an account, YBS and some smaller BSs when you apply for their RS seem to be the exception.

Yes, I am shredding everything with my name and address before it goes in the waste bin (shredded paper not allowed in our recycling bins). Everything else goes into recycling. Well done with your composting - that's one step I can't take for a number of reasons.

    Chorley Members maturity
The account shows electronic payment on 30/6 with the 30/6 interest added.
Been checking off and on during the day but still no sign of it. Fortunately there's one more weekday to go.

The maturity letter said it would be transferred on 30/6 but would take 2 to 4 working days to appear in your bank.
Seems excessive but am expecting it tomorrow.

There aren't many building societies that show the receipt of SOs and FPs on the day.

I have a fistful to check tomorrow.
