Before I closed these accounts, I opened Internet saver plus issue 7 in September 2020.


To qualify for the Loyalty Regular Saver you must have had a continuous member relationship with Yorkshire Building Society or Chelsea Building Society on or before the 1st January 2020.


You must have an active, open account (Savings or Mortgage) with Yorkshire Building Society or Chelsea Building Society or a SharePlans account that has been OPENED on or before the 1st January 2020, as either Main Holder, Other Holder or Trustee to be eligible for the Loyalty Regular Saver account.

I was able to apply via telephone appointment, it took 35 mins, simply enough, all paperwork and passbook arrived at home and via email, just need to pop in branch for withdrawal signature, no rush there, account shown online the next day, £500 deposit already done for  this month, await 1st march.

Just to reiterate, my exist saving account was not open b4 2020, however my closed RS was closed after I opened exist account, so it was classed as continuous membership.

Interesting as this is secure message reply I received  "We are unable to open accounts over the phone. To open the new Loyalty regular saver your need to complete an application form"

I got a call back from the branch I selected, she asked me what product I was looking for as the form online doesn't state what I wanted, she said telephone appointment or application form, as I wanted to save postage, I opt for telephone, she said we have one tomorrow at 2:30(when the branch close for public).

I took phone everywhere I went Tuesday afternoon through to Thursday afternoon, also thought maybe might get offered a Telephone appointment after 2.30, I am sure both Royal Mail will manage to deliver my completed application form today and with my branch free of apparent telephone appointments will open my account today, https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/78106958/#Comment_78106958

Well done YBS. I requested an application pack online which arrived next day on Wednesday. I put it in the post that day with my cheque, and today, Friday, I have just received my pass book showing my cheque paid in yesterday. How good is that, in these days of COVID delays, furloughs, postal delays etc. Now I can pay in on March 1st .

I requested a phone appointment on Tuesday.  Heard nothing so followed up with a secure message on Wednesday.
Received a secure message just now saying phone the local agency.  Phoned them, they said postal applications only.  Phoned the London branch.  They said the same thing.

The YBS website says savings account can be opened over the phone, but good luck finding a branch or agency who will actually do this for you.

Great product but poor customer service.

YBS Loyalty Regular Saver
Rang local agency on Wednesday and they emailed application pack to me. Took completed form and cheque to then later that day. and just handed them over. Received account book in post on Thursday. Super quick and very efficient. Very well done YBS

Spoke to London (Strand) branch who said forms could be emailed as well as posted

Do you just take a photo of each page and then send a bunch of jpg's or is there some clever way of doing this?

Hi Everybody,

Here is this weekend's update to this thread.

- Yorkshire BS Loyalty Regular Saver added to post 3 (paying 3.5% on £500 per month for people who have been a member since at least 1st January 2020)
- Mansfield BS Young Regular Saver (Issue 3) replaces issue 2 with an interest rate of 1% and no maturity date
- Mansfield BS 150th Anniversary Regular Saver (Issue 6) withdrawn and removed (and issue 7 interest rate too low to qualify for inclusion on this list)

I will do the next update next weekend.
