Is it about time to take any anti YBS rants onto another thread and leave this one clear for people hoping to identify new products?
YBS have come up with a regular saver with a high maximum monthly contribution and an excellent interest rate. I've been a YBS member on and off over the last 20 years and unfortunately I'm not eligible for this new regular saver account, but good luck to everyone who is. 🙂
Because frankly putting people at risk - staff and customers - by encouraging unnecessary branch visits during a lockdown in the midst of a pandemic doesn't seem very sensible. No regular saver - even one paying 3.5% - is worth that when YBS could permit online applications very easily.
Because they should also be thinking about minimsing risks to staff!1 -

I feel YBS have been very efficient over this Regular Saver especially as it has restrictions. My cheque has now cleared my current account. I feel Rich2808 should send YBS a secure message expressing his complaints as YBS are always looking for feedback and he will “get it off his chest”"Look after your pennies and your pounds will look after themselves"3

Online opening would lead to many thousands of applications from people who are not eligible.3 -
what7 said:I wonder if I am eligible. I am already a member, with branch RS 1,2,3.
Before I closed these accounts, I opened Internet saver plus issue 7 in September 2020.
To qualify for the Loyalty Regular Saver you must have had a continuous member relationship with Yorkshire Building Society or Chelsea Building Society on or before the 1st January 2020.
You must have an active, open account (Savings or Mortgage) with Yorkshire Building Society or Chelsea Building Society or a SharePlans account that has been OPENED on or before the 1st January 2020, as either Main Holder, Other Holder or Trustee to be eligible for the Loyalty Regular Saver account.
Just to reiterate, my exist saving account was not open b4 2020, however my closed RS was closed after I opened exist account, so it was classed as continuous membership.2 -

I got a call back from the branch I selected, she asked me what product I was looking for as the form online doesn't state what I wanted, she said telephone appointment or application form, as I wanted to save postage, I opt for telephone, she said we have one tomorrow at 2:30(when the branch close for public).

I took phone everywhere I went Tuesday afternoon through to Thursday afternoon, also thought maybe might get offered a Telephone appointment after 2.30, I am sure both Royal Mail will manage to deliver my completed application form today and with my branch free of apparent telephone appointments will open my account today,https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/78106958/#Comment_78106958

Well done YBS. I requested an application pack online which arrived next day on Wednesday. I put it in the post that day with my cheque, and today, Friday, I have just received my pass book showing my cheque paid in yesterday. How good is that, in these days of COVID delays, furloughs, postal delays etc. Now I can pay in on March 1st .1
