Still decent when used with a plethora of others.

Also gives membership of a another institution that may offer members only products in the future.

You can close it though, if you wanted access to funds.

I'd go for this but seems you have to call and post stuff out. A bit too much hassle for £20.

I agree. When annual returns get to the ~£20 level, things like the amount of time / hassle it takes to open and manage the account start becoming deciding factors . Not to mention the price of postage will eat into almost 5% of your returns. 
If it was easy to apply online and allowed wothdrawls it would be just about worthwhile.

I can't be doing with all this 'send documents signed by a person of standing'.
When I opened my regular saver with Furness BS a short time back, due to the covid stuff they did away with that rule and just let you send a basic photo copy job done.
Sod it for £20.
Plus I don't think I know any one of standing!

And it's only a £20 return if the variable rate does not drop during the 12 months!
