Am I correct in thinking that a newly opened Principality 6 Month RS takes a little while to show for COP - I'm not getting a match? (details are copy/pasted from the paying in info. supplied)

(I'm an existing customer, but can't remember if there was a delay with previous accounts, or perhaps I didn't try to fund as quickly after opening in the past?)

Yes, usually fixed in a couple of hours.

Trust your cut'n'paste skills and hit the Pay button. Worked for me.

I think it takes a few hours - luckily, I previously opened their basic EA account last month (so that going forward in late '25 i'll definitely have an applicable account for any loyalty RS products). I can transfer into that EA and then make an internal transfer to the RS later today... i'll setup a new payee for this RS account when I do the monthly payments on the 1st of next month.
btw - the RS account I made the overpayment too is still showing £3,250 - that £250 hasn't been returned yet.
  • Yes - I had the same problem - Pay Principality Building Society - Business account then your reference - new account number (9digits) - No cop match - But I continued anyway.
Also I kept getting a blank page in the process of opening the new PBS 6 month RS. Bit of a pain but worked eventually.
  • There is a disparity in how to enter your details when making a payment.
Online it was payee Principality Building Society
in email confirming account was opened it was your name as payee
Either way I didn`t get a cop match and proceeded anyway

I’ve found with Principality that COP doesn’t work until next day, that’s with Barclays. With Chase, it doesn’t seem to work at all. I opened the new issue this morning and did a £10 payment, bypassing the COP warnings. That’s showing now and I’ve just sent the other £190 using the saved payment details.

I still had the previous version of the 6 month saver already saved as a payee in Chase, so just changed the reference number which will now be stored for the next 5 payments.

FWIW, when I setup the payee with the Nationwide, the COP check came back and said the Payment Reference could not be found at the destination, rather than the account details (Sort+Account) were wrong. Suggests some banks give a generic "no match" response rather than details of specific problems. But as others have said, there's no need to wait until tomorrow as the payment will get through to your Principality account (if you've cut'n'pasted correctly).

Is this 6 month RS at 8% only online or can you open one in branch?
