Are there any RS accounts that accept a debit card payment or is it only YBS?
(to get my £5 Halifax Reward).
Thanks.0 -
Market Harborough Building Society
Seems very responsive, opened my account just after midnight and it was a '1 Year Regular Saver', just checked my £250 went in and my account is now showing as 'Fixed Term Regular Saver'.
When I opened my account I set the source as 'MoneySavingExpert', as I opened it several hours after the initial post, I wondered if that option was new, or had always been there ?1 -
Skipton BS works, although not sure about their reg saver or you can make a debit card payment and buy some premium bonds and once cleared withdraw the money from NS&I again if you don't want the bonds.RolloTomasi68 said:Are there any RS accounts that accept a debit card payment or is it only YBS?

Opened my Market Harborough account at 4pm yesterday and also selected MoneySavingExpert. I was a new customer so can’t say whether the option was there before that.
Skipton, Cambridge, Hanley Economic and Family BS accept card payments. Cambridge not directly into the RS though, and the latter two don’t have a decent RS available currently that I’m aware of.1 -
Also Leeds BS and Progressive BS accept debit cardspecunianonolet said:

MHBSInteresting clauseWe may prohibit further deposits into this product at any time.
When we do this, we will update the relevant section within the
‘Current interest rates for withdrawn products’ page of
mhbs.co.uk. We will not personally notify you when we do this. So, unlikely I concede, but they may not allow 13,14 and 15th payments after all. In fact they may not allow any further deposits after the opening one (very unlikely of course). And if they do invoke this clause, the first you will know about it is when the money is bounced back to your feeder account. So I for one will be checking my feeder (current) account each month to ensure money isn't sitting there earning no interest.

I am not sure who told you this but I am sure that the only information that really matters is sort code, account number and Reference. A CoP match may be desirable but if you get the above three bits of information right - and why wouldn’t you - your payment will arrive safely in your MHBS account.BonettiRules said:
I can only reiterate what I have been told directly they have a lot of payments dropping out because people are ticking "business" and not entering their own name own their account number. CoP clearly says you enter personal and you enter your own name. Apparently payments are being returned so if yours hasn't been your lucky.PloughmansLunch said:
I sent a payment 5mins after opening yesterday evening (didn't see the wait until COP works message - oops), and it was already credited when I checked this morning. I used:s71hj said:
Songs it definitely a case of selecting "Business account" ? I've had different experiences and indeed advice on this from different institutionsHHUK said:
I selected Business Account, entered MHBS 1 Yr Reg Saver as the description together with sort code, account and reference numbers. COP wasn't verified but I continued anyway, and the £10 test payment I made after close of business yesterday is showing in my account online as having been received yesterday.
My name as it appears in the account (e.g. J Smith)
MHBS Sort Code
MHBS Account number (Barclays)
Ticked 'Business account'
Added account number as a reference, leaving off the /1 (e.g. 12345678910)3 -
I don’t know what “covered by CoP” is as there is no guarantee scheme attached to CoP. CoP is just an additional check to give you peace of mind.BonettiRules said:
As long as you follow their instructions in the email, NOT people on here then you won;t fall foul. If you follow people on here (saying tick business etc.) just remember you WON'T be covered by CoP if your money goes astray!Marcoos said:Market Harborough
Just set up and very quick to do.
Not sure about the funding now based on the discussions..
I entered my name as it shows on the account, selected personal (it's what I normally do for other accounts) used the sort, account codes and finally the 11 digit reference code without the /1
Hopefully works...If you use the correct sort code, account number and Reference, there is no reason to believe your payment will go astray. If you use incorrect information, your money will eventually be returned though this can take weeks.1 -
Unless you give a reference number which exists for someone else's account, of course.friolento said:If you use the correct sort code, account number and Reference, there is no reason to believe your payment will go astray. Suspect in practice they would not credit a payment originating from an account not in the name of the customer. Not that I wouldn't be very careful in checking account details, always send a test payment where possible, etc2
