  • Just been told by Clare from MHBS, that they are changing the terms because a few of us have asked if 15 payments of £250 are correct as end end of November.
    £3,750 of deposits are fine.

That means I am allowed to deposit today and once again on Tuesday that will be 1st of October, am I right?

    Same happened me.
Turn your phone sideways to landscape mode.
It then works. Apply button on right hand side.
Still didn't work for me but did it OK on my laptop. The maddest set of security questions I've ever seen.  I have no hero, no favourite car and favourite film is too many characters and has a space, as 2 words. Just had to make random stuff up and write it down!

The name of the account is "Fixed Tern Regular Saver (30.11.2025)" (this is what I applied for) but it is showing as One Year Regular Saver on my online list. No reference to the interest rate in the account details either.  Is this okay?

I can't fund until tomorrow as CoP not recognising the details.

Same here.  Though if you go to 'View Account Details' (not 'Interest and Tax Information') it shows the interest rate as 6% on that screen.  At least it does for me.
Thanks. No interest rate showing for me yet, probably because I haven't yet deposited, But at least I don;t need to worry that Ive opened the wrong account.
Plenty of quirks with MHBS to keep us on our toes.

PS the account terms seem to indicate that interest is added to the account monthly. But presumably cannot be withdrawn until end of the term. Does that mean all interest will be taxable in 2025/26?

    Yes, thats what I understand.
I've set up my SO until 01/11/25.

What they're saying is if you have both accounts you can't deposit more than £3k/month in total between the two, so if you max out this one you can only contribute up to £2750/month in to the other (although why you'd bother when the interest rate is so low with a notice period for withdrawals defeats me).
Not quite. The maximum combined monthly deposit is £250 with a maximum combined balance of £3000 (soon to be £3750)

In that case, what's the point of a monthly saver account with a monthly deposit limit equal to the overall balance limit?

I'm putting MHBS on my 'wierd' list. That'll teach 'em.
Slightly odd for sure, but better than (if I recall correctly) Beehive, Tipton and Coseley and West Brom, where you are only allowed one regular saver at a time and cannot close early. MHBS would allow you if rates rose to open the new issue with the higher rate, and you could presumably miss two deposits on the lower one to get it downgraded and then have the full £3,750 to pay into the new one over the term. If not, then at least you can benefit from whatever deposit limit is left at the higher rate until the maturity of the lower one, rather than being excluded from opening a better product.

    • Save between £10 – £250 a month
    • Annual interest paid on maturity
    • You must make regular monthly deposits
    • Even with a penalty early withdrawals are not allowed (closure is not permitted either)
    • Initial deposit must be received with 10 days of opening the account

    Matures end of November 2025.

Super find! Thanks for sharing. Opened and funded within 10 minutes and with complete online access within minutes to view the account, so even better! :D;)

That’s what mine said when I logged in, but the account name was correctly listed on the email with the pay in details on so I wasn’t too worried. I might send them a secure message if it still says that once I’ve funded it.

MHBS only have two regular savers available and the other is for existing members so anyone who has applied as a new customer could not have got the wrong account if MHBS follow their own terms.

As I mentioned previously, mine's also called that but I have funded it, and is correctly showing the interest rate so it should be fine once you've funded it:

It will not show up for CoP as money goes into a Barclay Bank account.
Quite a few of my regular savers have this issue.
    Gatehouse bank are the same.

Thanks @35har1old for the nice find with MHBS.
Just tried to apply and I was told it needs to be reviewed and they will come back to me. Not sure if its because it is out of hours or it does not like something on my application. Hopefully sorted in the morning.
