I presume I shall be unable to open a new RS with Coventry as I already have an issue 2 account running and previous, posts on here suggest I shouldn't even have been allowed it as I had the original issue on the go.
You're fine to open issue 3 and have it run alongside issue 2.
    Just applied - as a current member - and got;

To complete opening this account, you'll need to return a paper application form

Before we can open your new account, you'll need to sign and return the pre-filled application form we've sent you. This should arrive by post in the next few days. You might also need to send us identification. Your account won't be opened until we have received this back and processed your application.

Once we've opened the account, we'll confirm your new account details by post, including your sort code and account number.

    I didn't get that...
Neither did I. Account opened straight away. My original V1 matures later this month.

No idea why I got it so will just have to wait and see.

Meanwhile my Monmouthshire passbook arrived today so I've posted off my opening deposit cheque.  My cheque book was issue in 2013 and I used cheque number 14 today.

Guess what I'm doing when I get home, then 😂
I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?

Eeeek. Looks they are now enforcing their T&Cs with a manual check.
    Perhaps I won't!

Log in to your account and apply from there and it works fine rather than going to their website and applying.

With regard to the Monmouthshire Regular account, how are you meant to fill in the Online Signatory form that they send out?
In particular it's the "Please confirm by ticking the appropriate box whether the account holder is currently: Physically incapacitated : Mentally incapacitated : Neither physically or mentally incapacitated" section.
At first I thought it was a part of Monmouthshire's know your customer approach and that I should tick the Neither box, but then underneath that section it says "If neither, please state the reason for the registration:" which makes me think that the section is perhaps only to be completed under certain circumstances, but nowhere does it say what those circumstances are so I'm in a quandary as to whether to fill it in or not.
In normal times I'd just give them a ring, but in these not so normal times I thought I'd check here first.
I pondered about this too! In the end I think I ticked the 'Neither' box and gave reason for registration as 'Requested by yourselves'. No idea what we were meant to do but they've opened my account!!

I always leave that whole section blank as I'm not signing on behalf of any other person. They've been perfectly happy. Poorly worded form.

Yes a lot easier and what a breeze compared to Monmouthshire!
  • @SFindlay - When does your Issue 2 mature?

Mine is not until January 2021. Debating whether to try now or not.

January too, as I say i applied whilst logged into my account where it says open new product and literally took 2 minutes as everything was prepopulated. Got account number immediately allowing me to set up transfer and appeared on my account list within about 2 hours with my deposited funds.
