A 17p credit has appeared in the bank account linked to my HSBC RS accounts with the description "HSBC SEGREGATED CL".  My last RS matured on the 28th of August. Googling doesn't throw up any useful explanations and the account no longer shows in my app so I can't see if there are any transactions there. Does anyone know what this might be?
Edit: I suppose it might be unrelated to the RS but the timing is interesting given the recent maturity

No idea, but messing with the maths, I get 17p for the interest for one month's full deposit of £250 at 5% for 5 days.

    £250 x 5% x 5 / 365 = 17p

Interesting! But my account was a 3% one so can't be that.

Ah, I got 5 % on mine which matures on 27th September just before they reduced the rate to 2,75%. I thought they were all 5% but I guess it is to do with the HSBC Advance account preferential rate thingy.

A reddit correspondent asked the same question - and then realised that the unexpected credit was a switching bonus.
Rather more than 17p, though, but it looks like it is a HSBC code for MFN (Money For Nothing). ... ;)
  • Could it be the pennies of interest earned while your mature regular saver sat in an easy access instant saver account?

In July, my Santander RS matured. I withdrew the funds and then asked them to close the account, as last year they renewed it despite me not asking for it to be (another story). Result was an extra 12p in interest!

Given that HSBC's best easy-access rate is 0.000137% per day - maybe not. ... :)

Slick procedure when the Loyalty Season Saver matures on 31.10.2020. Form and envelope provided to roll over to the new LSS, interest rate 1.35% variable. Roll over is nominal at £1 but no doubt topping up will follow. No need to complete a full application. The balance of the matured funds paid to the nominated account - they say the same day but it's a Saturday.
As I understand it, the £1 rollover will be dated 31/10/2020 so you  probably won't be able to top it up.
Next S/O payment will be 1/11/2020. Account no. and sortcode remains the same so just need to amend existing Standing order to say £250.
Also, does anyone know if we need to return the passbook with the maturity form? Doesn't mention anywhere that we have to return our passbooks.

Monmouthshire BS have asked me for an original or certified copy of a bank statement before accepting my current account for withdrawals. My Nationwide FlexDirect doesn't and wont issue paper statements. What's the solution, get the branch to issue something? In theory at least, I'm not supposed to use the branch either with this account.

Take a PDF copy from Nationwide and print it? Worked for me with other banks and building societies. Main thing is they don't like photocopies as historically those can be corrupted to show entirely fake transactions...
