Also some info that may be useful to some on the 6% West Brom account who are like me and only had a Websave account. I phoned them this morning and asked some questions so this info is what they told me:
- Customers with Websave accounts are classed as existing West Brom BS customers for the purposes of opening the 6% RS
- Where it asks you to enter the existing account number during the online application process for the RS, you take the 7 numbers (not the letters, just the numbers) from your Websave account, and put a 0 in front of them to make up the 8 digit minimum that's required for this field.
- They will then allow you to have the product as an existing customer since apparently they just check your name and postcode, and as long as it matches your Websave account then that will be your eligibility proven.6 -

Doesn't your driving licence have your signature on it ?
It's probably safer to upload a separate signature rather than upload the driving licence twice.

I've just had an application unsuccessful email from them.
"Unfortunately, following a review of your application you do not meet the criteria requirements for the account you have applied for."
I will try applying again using the method they have suggested to you. They don't make it easy do they

West Brom
I'm impressed with my first experience of the West Brom so far. I applied for the instant access account on line last night and manged (eventually, after struggling initially with how their system worked) to upload copies of my signature on a blank sheet of paper and driving licence. Shortly afterwards I received email confirmation that my application was being considered.
This morning I had a call from a team member about the application. After going through the usual security procedures, she told me the reason for the call was that I had entered a different date of birth on line from that shown on the licence. However, since the date on the licence corresponds with the one I had just given her on the phone, they would be able to accept the application and open the account. I duly received an email confirming that the account is open and advising the sort code and account number, and immediately funded it with £1 by FP.
Like @allegro120, I then called them to ask about ID for online access and was also told it takes a day for the account to appear on their system. I will call tomorrow, when they expect to be able to initiate my online access. I didn't ask about the fixed rate RS but like @Aidanmc have applied for it and am hoping for the best.2 -
