Royston Vasey Building Society has just brought out a new savings account at 0% fixed for a year.
    But there’s a catch....

    Its only for local people.

    Dressed up in drag.
Who would want a savings account for 0%? and fixed too,  Typo?

For those not in YP's distopian universe:

When the Royston Vasey regular saver matures you have to go the the local post office after hours and in person to collect. The terms and conditions also mention  to go unaccompanied and to tell no one.

Club Lloyds and standard Lloyds monthly savers reduced to 1.5% and 1% respectively. Halifax regular saver also fallen to 1%.

There's now clear blue water between the First Direct, HSBC and M&S savers (still at 2.75%) and any others which are available online. Only a matter of time before they follow suit?

bank of scotland regular saver also now showing as 1%

I too followed the link to the Vernon - I live in the area. It's actually very interesting - 1.45% on max £500 per month. I've asked them if opening an account online would be possible in the current circumstances. Not very hopeful.

Bad timing, mine matures in two days!

Bizarre why HSBC are keeping those rates, I think the next best rate is 1.85% fixed now?

Yes I forgot that rate is variable. I think it's Lloyd's in second then at 1.5%!
