Was my previous post not clear that I was requesting an increase, or better still removal of the limit completely (why is there a limit? the previous software imposed no limit), as
To put things into context, 500 users represents less than 0.02% of users who have registered with this site.
I already about another 20-30 (including the dozen that didn;t make it from the last wait list) to add already, so a sizeable increase would be required if the limit is not removed completely

It's difficult to remember which posters may have caused trouble in the past, especially with there being so many, and it could have been over a decade ago since they posted previously.

KeithP said:@Biscuit_Tin, can I respectfully suggest that you review your need to ignore people?
I personally have never found it necessary to put anyone on an ignore list.
Was that intentional, or am I on your ignore list? It could of course be both.2 -

There can't be much left to read surely?
What does one have to do or say to make it onto this "not so exclusive" list?
Do you give posters the benefit of a few posts to guage them, or is it one strike and your name's also going on the list...
"Don't tell him your name Pike"
Surely with DT closed, there are fewer controversial posts to get annoyed by.How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)6 -

"The ignore facility is a useful tool that means if you don't like the way someone posts, you can opt not to read what they write. To add someone to your ignore list, click on their username then view their profile. You'll see they've posted, but won't be able to view the content unless you choose to. If you feel their posts are disrupting the forum, then report them to the Forum Team."
(Actually, with this new improved forum interface, now you don't even see they have posted
I remember reading a specific request by another MSEer for it to operate this way)
I'm not sure where this affects less than 1 in 5000 posting accounts could ever be considered "excessive". I'm sure most other forums could only dream of achieving that sort of low occurrance.

Biscuit_Tin said:I'm sorry, but as I hinted at in my previous post, I'm going to have to request a further increase to the limit for ignored users, or better still, remove the limit completely
Having over the last few days been gradually adding those on my waiting list, I see already again:
I still have about a dozen that were on the earlier waiting list that still need to be added, but that was in part my own fault, as I have also been adding real-time users over the last few days as I came across them.
But with todays (yesterdays?) influx, I now have had to start another waitlist too.
So if the limit could be raised again as soon possible, or better still removed completely, it will allow me to continue to enjoy reading & posting on this site.
Many thanks.
I don't have anyone on ignore. I just skip past the posts without reading for people who irritate the crap out of me.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.2 -
