Ignore list

Would it be possible to expand the number of users that can be added to a user's ignore list please?
I've just had cause to add the first user to my ignore list and it already indicates it is 20% full. I think I will find the current maximum of 5 users will be woefully inadequate in a very short time.

I would really appreciate it too if this could be increased as a matter of urgency, please.
I know of one troll suspected of using more than 5 AE accounts alone, and there are numerous other troublesome I would wish to add.
Any chance of restoring our old ignore lists too please, but I realise that may be a much bigger ask.

Does the ignore function just mean that you cannot see what the other person is posting?
Can they still see your posts? or send you messages?
If a person is being stalked, what does MSE do about it?With love, POSR1 -
Not sure it works. I've put someone on ignore and can still see their posts2

I can't see any replies by any poster on my ignore list, not even a hint they even posted (unlike the old site that showed the user had posted but that they were being ignored)
The only way to see someone you have ignored has posted is:
(a) remove them from your ignore list
(b) log-out
(c) you may see an ingored user has posted from the front page of that board, if they were the last poster (by their name and date/time of post) but on opening the thread, you will not see any evidence they have posted.
- another give away you may notice there are ignored posts is when there are less than 10 replies shown on a page (assuming at least 10 replies exist)
The only time you should still see an ignored user's post is when they have started the thread.
- that maybe something the forum team wish to look at in future, but may be difficult to resolve.
e.g. does the thread just not get displayed at all, or should just the OP be missing, which may just cause confusion to a thread you don't even know what it's about.
- or perhaps hide just the OP, but indicate that a post has been ignored like on the old site; there was some advantage on he way the old site handled an ignored user, but I'm not sure which is better.

Yes. You ignoring them does not mean they are ignoring you.or send you messages?
On the old site, if you ignored a user, then they could not send you a PM. But you could also prevent everyone (other than site admin) from sending you a PM. Not sure how the new board works, but it doesn't seem like I'm able to stop everyone PM'ing me. Presumably, if you've ignored them, then you won't be able to see any PM they send you, even if it were possible. Why not let us know if/when someone you have ignored has managed to send you a message that you can see?If a person is being stalked, what does MSE do about it?
As has always been the case, report any suspicious posts/activity to the Forum Team for investigation.1 -
Looks like they have increased the number of users you can ignore to 20 now
- or at least that is the maximum I can currently ignore

@MSE_Tine , @MSE_Ben_H ,
Thank you very much for increasing this number of users that can be added to the ignore list.
Without wishing to sound like Oliver,
I'm already at 90% of the increased value.
With the apparent ability of anyone to create an infinite number of new accounts, is there any technical reason why we are restricted on the number of those that may be ignored at all?

If they aren't reported to us then we won't know so you'll need to keep ignoring endlessly
I will look at upping the number of allowed "ignore'd" today
