Hester, i am so sorry to hear that, a tragedy at any time but so near christmas
hugs to you, hope dh finds more work soon
Happy Birthday to Pookys dd, hope she had a lovely day0 -
I'm sat here with tears streaming down my face in anger. My boss is SO incompetent. He hasn't automated the transfer of wages - he does it manually as the amount we get paid each month varies due to overtime etc and for THE SECOND MONTH IN A ROW he has forgotten to do it until this evening, and so with clearing time, the money won't be in my bank until Wednesday. Last month it wasn't so bad - my Direct Debits are set for 1st month and as the last fri of the month fell fairly early, the money was still in my account in time, however all my DDs are due on Monday (including my rent) and I don't have enough to cover them. In fact, I haven't even got enough petrol to get me into work, nor any money to get a bus. Fuming does not even describe it, and as soon as I can get in there, I'll be handing my notice in. I cannot believe that the incompetent eejit could make the same mistake twice in a row. GGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Hester (((hugs))) to you on what must be a very traumatic evening.
On the plus side, the dentist said that no work needs doing, I just have a slight infection so that's good news. xxx0 -
Hi all
Managed a quick look at you today but not much.
Happy birthday to Miss Pooky. Sorry to hear about aches, pains, dentist, general illness etc.
Have been wiping the cold drips off my nose all day, following a terrible night's sleep with the neighbouring cats at war and making horrendous fighting noises just under our bedroom window. Also have a rather nasty dry cough.
Due to have all three DGSs on Saturday night. DD worried as DGS3 wouldn't take a bottle from DSIL last night. He whimpered as soon as his Mum came home - obviously saying food at last! I am sure he will be fine here as it will be me and out of his own environment! His last big milk feed is 6.00 pm so if a real problem, I can always take him home!!! I have nerves of steel and I will persevere! If he doesn't take much at 6.00 he will probably take more at his power feed about 10.00 when he really doesn't wake up. Will try a cup if bottle fails and as a last resort he will get a few spoonfuls of solids with a drink of water!!!!!!!!!! He started solids about a week ago and seems to think big food pretty good! He has had baby rice and yesterday a taste of apricot from a jar. He shivered as DD thought it may feel a bit sharp to him but he took his few spoonfools. He definitely will not starve at Granny and Daddad Broons!
CrazyC - no package yet but am sure it will be here tomorrow. Can't wait to see what you have done! I know I will be happy. I remember for our silver wedding my SIL did a special cross-stitch present with our names, wedding date, silver wedding date. It meant more to me than any bought present as she had taken the time to do it. it is proudly framed and on our lounge wall.
Sorry about the trauma HardH - I am sure i heard about that on Breakfast this morning.
Roz - sure there must be legislation re late payment of salary. This is totally unacceptable. Maybe you should change your DDs until a week after salary - not ideal but maybe a safety net.
IT folk crawling everywhere tomorrow so might not even get a chance to read the thread and do the thanks button. Maybe new systems will let me post replies again. Will have to see on Monday. I am only supposed to have an hour a week personal time on line a week at work (in my own time!). We have ways to get round this!!!!!!!!!!!
Love and hugs to everyone unmentioned tonight.

Oh that is dreadful! Won't he give you some money in advance since it's his fault? was he at all apologetic? I sympathise because I work for an idiot who would be well capable of this!Hardup_Hester wrote: »Evening all
Horrible day at work today, someone was killed whilst working on the railway line, turns our it was a family member of someone at work, a terrible tragedy.
Big hugs to all
Hester
So sorry to hear this Hester - what a rotten thing to happen .People Say that life's the thing - but I prefer reading
The difference between a misfortune and a calamity is this: If Gladstone fell jnto the Thames it would be a misfortune. But if someone dragged him out again, that would be a calamity - Benjamin Disreali0 -
Granny B - most of my DDs are mid-month but my rent must go out on 1st and that's the biggest one
It's the first month in this place as well so not going to be a popular tenant!!
I'm looking into legislation as it is written in my contract that I will be paid by BACS on the last friday of the month. I'm going back to uni to study a MSc in HR - times like this I think it would be very useful
taurusgb - you know that's the worst thing, he told my line manager and left him to phone and tell me as I've been off this afternoon. He just doesn't seem to grasp that people may need money to live and that we rely on him for our survival.0 -

In that case if you are supposed to be paid BACS tomorrow (like me) you should defintely speak to your employer if you incur rent penalties. This is totally unacceptable. We work a month and expect a fair month's pay on the due date.
Good luck with your studies. I am sure your course will include employment law! No doubt you will keep us all posted.
Love

ROZ - phone your bank tomorrow and explain the situation - when that last happened to me, I explained to the bank manager and asked if he would waive the DD charges or let them go through and, because he had advance notice, he let them all go through. Two still bounced but he waived the charges. My ex-boss was always doing that - in the end I moved all my DDs two weeks further into the month, but, eventually, it was one of the reasons I left and I told him so. You don't work for the love of it, do you? I hope you can sort it out. Please try and phone your bank tomorrow - you still have time.KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:
