$154.68 spent today on another big shop. Kind of shocked but I keep trying to remind myself that this month is *still* an experiment. Also Little Miss (14mo) eats quite a lot.

Had not eaten pasta for months and months. All this talk about it! I used the remaining ragu from stuffed peppers to make a tagliatelle bolognaise and then when I bought milk, I noticed a 2 for £5 offer on meatballs so we had a pack of those with tortiglioni, tomato sauce from a jar and grated cheese on top. It was very interesting - I accidentally used kung po sauce instead of a tomato ragu! The water chestnuts were not unpleasant but it was a bit sweet (embarrassed emoji) - it was all from stores though and allowed me to break out two packs that have been in my larder about a year (Aldo past with a sell by date of April 19!). No intentions to buy more as I remain stocked up for the next Suffolk siege (always was, have not bought anything unusual - except emergency chocolate... but we eat it).Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Good morning All
I have several shops to report. Two from last weekend: £25.13 in L!dl and £7.40 at the farm shop. Plus, I made the mistake of popping into MrT’s on my way home from work on Thursday. We were out of tissues. Chaos. People with trolleys full of bottled water - why? - and toilet paper - again, why? - but not many buying food. They were almost out of tissues too, so I had to get the expensive-brand 2-pack, instead of an own-brand. I had a chat with the lovely lady on Customer Services and she reported that they had queues for toilet paper at midnight, when they get their delivery. Didn’t even have to unload the pallet.
I spent £16.50 on that trip. Bought the tissues (£3.50) and took advantage of their offer of £10 for 2 pizzas, 2 sides and a dip, plus an extra side of garlic bread for £3. This covered dinner for both Thursday and Friday nights, since both DH and I didn’t get home until after 7:30pm on both nights so this was the lazy option. (I’d originally considered pasta and pesto for Thursday, but really didn’t fancy it.)
Do you remember the missing receipt? Well, I found it. It was for £9.63, so I’ve adjusted the numbers. My Grocery Challenge total now is£67.56/£126.30
leaving £58.74 for the remainder of the month.

Well done all on March thrift and efficiency, despite the challenging situation we are facing. The impacts spread far and wide. All the more reason to be sensible, whilst still enjoying what’s important to each of us. In my case, the view of the River Tyne from a train.I’m at £239 spent, so £311 left out of £550. I’m pleased with that, as March is nearly half gone. About 80% of spend was at Aldi, much better than in Feb. Food planning 3 weeks at a time really helps me too8

Mar £44.38/of £100 Month (Annual 27 Dec 19 - 26 Dec 20) £177.36/£1,325 cat food £64.15
Spent out of £100: Jan £77.77 Feb £99.59 Mar
Cat Food Jan £71.33, Feb £64.15, Mar £41.38
£6.72 food spend added to total - this was for reduced bread, reduced packs of meat which has been frozen and which i'll use for meals next week, butter which was needed and managed to get at the cheapest price and some soft drinks.
I haven't started the next shopping list yet but think it will include more soft drinks.

£80 spent at the market yesterday & today, on everyday fresh stuff for the coming week, plus an extra sack of spuds. (Which were £9.99 yesterday & £11.99 today... such is life! ) I wouldn't normally buy these for a couple of weeks, as we still have half a sack, but we can store them well & I'd rather get them in before the price goes much higher. The situation in our posh supermarket is ludicrous; people queueing up at 7.30 this morning (it opens at 8) to try to grab some of any loo roll that might have mysteriously appeared overnight. Pasta, rice & tinned tomatoes are still vanishing as soon as they come in. Talking to various friends, people are evidently anticipating a more-or-less complete lock-down at some point before too long, and preparing for that.
