I spent £18.59 in Aldi today, bought an extra box of cat food to start a little stock pile just in case! That's £38.95 spent, £51.05 left for the month. I have 10 meals in the freezer that I'm going to work through over the next couple of weeks so I anticipate spending a similar amount next week.
Spent £1.65 today in Sainsburys for the guacamole that had been eluding me in Aldi...so that's £40.60 spent, so £49.40 left!
Spent £1.20 in Sainsburys on bananas....so I've spent £41.80, £48.20 left.
Spent £4.26 in Home Bargains today on work snacks, so that's £46.06 spent, and £43.94 left!

Had to buy a sack of dog food, some bits at the Chinese supermarket, and a sack of spuds, some fruit and veg, bread, milk, yoghurt and sandwich fillings. I’m about €75 over budget now 🙁🙁 With small boys creche closed, and myself and himself working from home, it makes a difference. Even missed out on my freebie Sunday lunch at MILs this week!9

Mar £52.43/of £100 Month (Annual 27 Dec 19 - 26 Dec 20) £177.36/£1,325 cat food £64.15
Spent out of £100: Jan £77.77 Feb £99.59 Mar
Cat Food Jan £71.33, Feb £64.15, Mar £64.76
Spends of £8.05 added to food total. This included: potatoes, tin foil, rice cakes x 2 (double pack was cheaper offer), 3 x dental hygiene items, 2 x reduced meat, reduced bread and 2 x reduced meals - a salad for me and pie for mr Socks - much cheaper and quicker than anything i could have done at home & healthier for me too.
Cat food spends have jumped up also as 1 of ours isn't eating too well. He does this occasionally and usually is tempted by the much more expensive brand for a week or so and then reverts back to his usual brand (still not v cheap). I was just happy to unpack the shopping and pop him a dish out and see him eating

DH did another shop yesterday of $81.33 so we're up to $647.49 (out of my laughable $500 budget). Going through the receipt it seems an interesting mix of tinned fish and chocolate
(and other things - plus most of it was on sale). Includes a quiche for lunches for him (I'm GF and DF so not something he ever gets at home!)
I'm still intrigued as to know whether we've been spending this much every month or it's up because of *the virus* or simply because we've both been trying harder not to eat out for convenience. Also I seem to forget vital things on the list pretty much every time, so that is certainly not helping!March 2020 grocery challenge $921.76/$500AU

Trying really hard not to shop until the end of the month, I'm having to be quite inventive. Running low on bread, butter, potatoes, fruit and veg. Going to book an online slot for the first of next month and do a months planning first8

£108 already - so over. But had a friend over for the weekend so had lots of slightly nicer things than I would have myself, and I massively underspent in January and February so I'm fine with that.
We have an Ikea bookcase that forms the basis of our store-cupboard - a leftover from the years without a proper kitchen - so that’s where they sit, along with the tray of 25p sweetcorn we bought in L!dl in January. It also has “drawers” (fruit boxes) which are packed with bags of dried pulses. When the container in the pantry runs out, I take the packet from stores and add whatever-it-is to the shopping list.

ETA: Thanks for the new thread, @elsiepac. I’ve bookmarked it. My DH is working from home now. We’ve all been told to work from home as well, but it will make it extraordinarily difficult for me to do my job - I’m back on my main project where I need to sit with our systems consultant and go through data."Be the type of woman that when you get out of bed in the morning, the devil says 'Oh crap. She's up.'
It ain’t what you do, it’s the way that you do it - that’s what gets results!

Quite a big shop for me today, couldn't get exactly what I wanted so some stuff I had to get more expensive versions. I spent £31.46 in Aldi and £6.35 in Tesco, so that's £83.87 spent and £6.13 leftI think I might be able to do it although it will be cat food that pushes me over if anything as I couldn't get their normal (cheaper) stuff in Aldi.
