Going to write an e-mail to PALS tonight. I have not put the appeal in yet as I figured I would attach a document demonstrating my partners brain tumour.

just a quick one, if you can post your letter/email here first

  • Hello,

I've phoned twice in the last week regarding a parking ticket I received in January. My partner is suffering from a brain tumour and I was forced to rush her into A&E one afternoon. I received a parking ticket for this (although no ticket was present on the car when I returned).

As a result of my partners illness, I am a regular visitor of the hospital and have no issues paying for the car park, however I have been told that in this case PALS can cancel off my ticket, especially considering the circumstances. To be clear, I have phoned twice and been told this is not possible, however after further advice, I've been informed that PALS are indeed who I need to speak to regarding getting this written off. While I respect the need for the moderation of the car park outside the hospital, I fail to see the benefit of capitalising what is already an incredibly difficult situation for my partner and I.

I hope that you will be able to resolve this for me.

    Regards,

This is what I sent to PALS.

    Why are you phoning people?

I matters such as this, where a court claim against you is a possibility, a paper trail is essential, judges love paper trails.

You need to cite the NHS Car Parking Principles at them, point out where the NHS Trust has failed to comply with that Government policy (Google it/read the Memorandum instruction that was sent to all NHS Trusts in 2015), attach a copy of the offending PCN, and not start formal complaint emails with the salutation 'Hi'.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • After emailing, PALS have said they'll see what they can do. I will contact them again tomorrow. In the meantime, I'll throw in the appeal including documentary evidence of my partners serious condition.

Without saying who was driving...!  APCOA can only hold a known driver liable so no implying who parked!

  • Absolutely. I even put that on my email, albeit after I posted it here.
  • In the end, after I sent e-mails... this was resolved. Do not use the old telephone. They'll tell you anything.
