APCOA Parking Fine Stoke-on-Trent Hospital

Another outrageous hospital-related PCN.  Sounds like you're building a relationship with PALS - make sure that is to your advantage as opposed to them showing their 'goodwill' by politely refusing to do diddley squat.  Who in the world would have searched high & low for an alternative space in the circumstances you describe?  Be politely firm, very firm, with PALS.  Start thinking about what you'll write to the hospital's CEO too, if this is not resolved very promptly by PALS.

But of course do send the appeal as well.
Thanks for the message of support. I have spent many hours up that hospital with my partner, usually paying £7.90 to park (i think that's anything over 3-4 hours). The situation as you describe needed me to be there for my partner, not worrying about the car.

I spoke to PALS yesterday. They politely said they couldn't help and subsequently advised I get a special 'season pass' or something? I don't know. Wasn't exactly what I needed to hear. I'm sticking in the appeal today and will phone PALS again. Is it worth e-mailing them?

Yes , keep on at them and quote the guidelines at them , plus write to the CEO of the trust as well

Definitely look into getting a season ticket , it's probably a better option than a daily parking fee , check their website and any signs

Make your appeals to APCOA and Popla too

… and the PM. He made a big thing about hospital parking recently so you should hold him to account. Local and national press may also be interested, especially if you tell them Mr Johnson is involved.
I married my cousin. I had to...
    I don't have a sister. :D

  • Going to contact PALS again today. Not happy with their original response. I've put in the appeal anyway.
  • I noticed when parking at Banbury Station at 1030 I was charged £8.50 for a day ticket I had routinely £5.50 paid for in the past. APCOA manage this station and I had already received 2 erroneous PCN notices from them. I could find no reference in their FAQs to their definition of ‘off peak’ times but have later discovered their definition of ‘off peak’ starts at 1200! This is a service for a station where ‘off peak’ tickets can be purchased from 1000 or earlier. However APCOA may disguise it an increase of £3 is daylight robbery!

  • Just an update. I've been given a phone number by PALS. From all accounts, its the number of the car park management of Stoke.... Surely that is APCOA ? Worth phoning them to argue the toss or not?

No, why are PALS not dealing with this
THEY have hired them! THEY can deal with this = and have to abide by the NHS parking guidelines

    PALS have failed you then.

Complain to PALS for fobbing you off to the parking firm., which an NHS Trust cannot do, as they remain liable for this.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
