In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non-MoneySaving matters are not permitted per the Forum rules. I'm assuming that I'm the only one who actually read the flood report?
Health Warning: I am happy to occasionally comment on building matters on the forum. However it is simply not possible to give comprehensive professional technical advice on an internet forum. Any comments made are therefore only of a general nature to point you in what is hopefully the right direction.0 -
In York? No chance. I live here and we're buying a house shortly - head for the hills! Get away from the rivers and any areas that suffer surface flooding. And avoid Persimmon.
Flood water doesn't just originate from rivers - look at the Knavesmire and how it turned into a lake; the water comes up from below, ie up your drains and out of the toilet, bringing raw sewage with it,0 -
Good advice, the future is more flooding, if you already live on a flood plain just get used to being there for a long time and adapting your house/lifestyle to accommodate the twice yearly flooding.0

Thanks for posting it. I have read it a second time tonight and overall find it reassuring. We have decided we would physically like to visit the plot to help make a decision. On the detailed map at the end, the property is showing as +144.18. I don’t really understand what these figures mean though.thearchitect said:I'm assuming that I'm the only one who actually read the flood report?0 -
