Diesel is 93.9. Tesco at Knocknagoney 93.9 UL and 96.9 Diesel. In both cases 13.5p a gallon more than Bangor.

Have to agree with you there cruesfan. Went in last night for first time and found it disappointing. At least it will keep Tesco honest.

Well I was in the Bangor store for the 1st time on Friday. Had a quick look round then over to CS desk. They confirmed that they take competitors coupons as well as manufacturers coupons. All staff seem pretty well clued up on this. Happy days!
Went back today for a proper look and armed with a few Sainsburys coupons. I have to admit that it is pretty cramped and quite cheap looking.
Bought a few of things totalling £9.18. Paid with 1x £5 Sainsbury coupon and 1 x £3 Jeoy coupon. Checkout op took them no problem and I handed over £1.18 cash. Got home and cut open the pack of chicken to make tea and was almost knocked out by the foul odour. Got in car and went straight back to store to CS desk. CS staff member very friendly and gave me a refund for the product but get this, their policy is to refund twice the value and she gave me £5.96. So Asda paid me £4.78 to take away their goods today. :D
Even with this good days shopping. I'm not sure that I force myself to do my weekly shopping there. Maybe just the last week of the month when I'm really skint. ;)
    :p

Does anyone know if any our new asda stores here have the wine on offer like across the water.
  • we have got a new asda in coleraine. not impressed with it to be quite honest. the old safeway store seemed better and i didnt really like it either! maybe i just fussy!!!!!!!!!!!!!LOL
On a slow boat to China
  • I visited Asda in Ballyclare yesterday. NOT IMPRESSED at all!!!

Small aisles, poor choices (no semi skimmed milk at all, lots of empty shelves), prices that were higher than Tesco or Lidl.

Needless to say, I took my trolley to customer services and asked them to take my trolley token out as I had changed my mind about purchasing the goods I had selected. They were most concerned and asked why, so I told them. You are too dear!

I'm going to email Asda for the cod to see what they say! Will let you know if I get a reply.

When Asda say that they will accept Tesco and Sainsbury's vouchers do they just mean the coupons that you get with your clubcard statement? I have got a " save £12 when you spend over £60 "from Tesco - the type that they print off at the end of the receipt - will this be accepted?
    Thanks in Advance ;)

Yes they should accept this no problem as long as you spend amount required.
I used £5 off £30 pound spend Sainsbury coupon last week and girl took without question. She did however query 20p manufacters coupon as I had not bought product. I asked her to check with Customer Services and after doing so she acceptted it.
  • ASDA accept all tesco and sainsburys vouchers. They will also match any lower price or special offer advertised by a competitor.

As for the cramped stores, i agree about Bangor. If you ask me Bamgor was already a little cramped as Safeway but with ASDA adding the George and more non food they had to get the space from somewhere, so the Aisles do seem to be closer together. I disaggree on pricing though. There is no way that Tesco are cheaper. In fact both retailers seem to have there prices the same bar a penny here or there. And anyways, ASDA have won lowest price supermarket for the last 5+ years, and charge the same prices as in England (unlike tescos).

Anyways, hopefully the rest of the stores wont be as cramped. All stores above where the first conversions so hopefully lessons have been learned. Kilkeel opened today, and i must say it looks a lot smarter than the other stores. Lets hope the rest follow suit.

Agree totally arkonite_babe, I called in last week to check it out and was not impressed either. Obviously it being a small store doesn't help but I think I'll stick with Tesco for mean time :D

Now with the new one opened in Carrick I'll not have to travel all the way to Newtownabbey :j :j
