Automatic gearbox Dual mass flywheel. All ford Galaxy suffers from that issue circa 80-100k miles. It was making grinding noise when changing gears. After replacement and gearbox service all good.
Soon after that timing belt kit AND timing chain needed replacement as the tensioner failed. Manufacturer suggests replacing after 120k miles so not sure where you've taken 60k miles replacement intervals from?
The belt was in very bad condition so decision was to replace the whole kit as it's not common to only replace tensioner and at that point we didn't know what was the real mileage, we only knew it's done more than the odometer shows. The car was in the garage for a week as there was an issue with one of the injectors seized, they found some metal dust(bits) somewhere they shouldn't be, and few other small but time consuming issues.
