Plusnet not prepared to haggle / leaving for Post Office

I left Plusnet (PN), contract ended and went from £27 to £40, £20.95 with Post Office (PO) so joined them, been activated since 3rd Feb, not very long but no issues since (I watch TV over Internet daily). No clue what people are on about PO, I find whoever you go with is a risk.
I didn't bother phoning PN, just put the order in with PO, PN didn't try to ring my mobile with an offer, if they tried the home line number, well out of luck as I don't have a home phone.

I have recently been in contact with PlusNet because they sent me an email telling me of a `!!!!!!-up` by them and that they would give me some credit for a couple of weeks. When I phoned I was offered a new deal and told they would put me through to Sales. One minute of talking to Sales, the line went dead! (26 minutes wasted listening to rubbish music) I phoned straight back, apologies given and told they would put me straight through. More music!! Finally I get to speak to someone. They have offered me £19.99 line rental, £3.96 Unlimited Fibre Extra Broadband and £8.00 Anytime Calls. £10 cheaper than I was paying!! I then checked my Anytime Calls package only to find, going back over 16 months, entries on my bill for £0.12. Date given, time, then showing my home number, followed by £0.12 charge. 80 of them!
Another phone call, only to be told they had no idea what it could be. It`s under investigation!!! How many other customers have similar entries on their Bill. Nice earner if you can get away with it.

Definitely try ringing back another day if you don't have any luck at first. The first time I rang the person I spoke to initially offered me a pricier deal than I could get by logging in to Plusnet and renewing my contract online. A bit of haggling and it came down a bit but not much, so I said I'd switch supplier. A few days later I rang again and was offered a much better deal without even needing to negotiate much.1

Thanks guys,I too have been with Plusnet for over 15 years and been quoted a much higher price than I have been paying. I am currently paying £7 for fibre broadband and £5 for anytime calls. Now they say it will be £9.50 for fibre and £8 for all inclusive calls. This with line rental at £16.49 (when paying 12 months up front). So £24 for the broadband alone if I ditch the call plan.Post Office comes in at £20.90 a month for a 12 month contract (no need to pay LR up front)I spoke to retentions and they wouldn't budge.I haven't been notified that my tariff is due to expire (as I think the new rules say) so not sure if they will change my pricing.I predict redundancies in Sheffield because they are going to lose a lot of business!0

Do not forget, you can run plusnet over the Post Office line , so you split your service. This will give you a cheaper deal.I run Plusnet Unlimited over Post Office phone line with a discount on this P.Office end. Plus Post Office offer you Phone & mobile if you wish. And you are serviced as if you are a BT coustomer, but paying far less that direct BT. I worked for BT and they even took away staff bonus and offered us all for £1 BT Vision. Not batting is BT plc out to hook and crook you. Suck you in with cheap starting price then up in big amounts. But do rember you can fun Q broadband down line F Not any set must be the same.0

Re my earlier rant about PlusnetIt is really frustrating that dealing with Blue Chip UK companies is like striking a deal in the Souks of Arabia !After talking to Customer Service, Renewals, and Retentions I finally got through to cancellations. Now I get the dealLine rental £19.99 (£17.49 if paid up front)Fibre BB £5.01 not the £9.50 from yesterdayAnytime calls Free not the £8 yesterdayWhy does it have to be so difficult!2

I left them, after receiving a price increase e-mail two years ago. I phoned Retentions to advise I was leaving because of that increase and hoped for some sort of offer. Nothing offered but a thanks for your custom over many years and good luck with a new provider! So I left.0

For everyone, whichever provider, note that the monthly bundle of free calls may work out to be not worthwhile.
This house used the 18185 access service for a few years, about £5 every 2 months, but on a past price increase there I bought a VoIP/landline unit with cordless handset, £30 secondhand, and now all calls cost £6 to 8 per year.0 -
loveabargain13 said:My renewal is due with Plusnet & the best offer they could give me was for an 18 month contract, but I’m thinking of moving to John Lewis Broadband which guess who supplies them..... well well Plusnet! Going to call back at a later date, the sales guy wasn’t very helpful!0
