Yes, it's not just me then? This used to happen on the old platform and I thought when the new platform started and this annoying feature was gone - YES! But this morning it is back. I have reported it and asked if it is a permanent feature, a mistake or an upgrade.DoaM said:Is anyone else experiencing this? I look at a thread and then go back to the thread listings ... that thread no longer shows any New posts. I go back to the thread and add a reply; when I go back to the thread listings (via the forum link, not the back button) I see that there is now 1 New reply to the thread ... of course there is - it is my reply! Why would I want to be notified of a new reply that I had just made?1 -

It seems that, as one of the long standing respected posters, you are getting to grips with the new forum, well done. But, where are all the other - ditto - posters? Gone forever?

The thanks button is more or less useless on an iPad . Whenever I want to see who thanked me it is completely the opposite of straight forward .What I've noticed since this revamped website is that , there are a few diaries that I used to participate in that have just gone quiet , if not dead . My own diary seems to be going the same way . I'm wondering if it's worth continuing it if there is no participation from others . It's not me moaning about change btw, but if there's seemingly no interest , what's the point ?Then again , with all the shenanigans I've had this morning trying to request a new fit note from my surgery when the website is absolutely useless for Mac then this website isn't too bad ..0

It was said tongue in cheek. That said, it would depend, entirely, on how you accessed and used the site. Personally, your problem doesn't exist as that's not the way I use the forum....

So you never reply to a thread then go back to the thread listings to find the next thread with new posts to have a read? I do, and I guess the majority of people do ... seeing the post you've just replied to showing New replies (which is merely your own reply) is simply poor coding of the forum.RumRat said:

Will I get used to it? Yes.
Should MSE fix this? Yes ... but I'm sure there are higher priority things to address first.
Edit: which brings another foible to mind ... when I edit a post and click Save Comment the post is edited - great. If I need to edit it again (e.g. to correct a typo) I need to refresh the page to be able to see the cog wheel ... the cog wheel doesn't return after Save Comment without a page refresh as that whole banner is gone.

Yes, If I flit back and forth via the link as you do, that would happen. I open threads I'm interested in as new tabs, read and reply, then shut down all tabs. So, don't see anything until returning later.
I wasn't suggesting you weren't experiencing your perceived problem, just that I didn't consider it to be a problem.
I agree that the edit function is different, but a page refresh is quick and easy if needed.
Should they fix these 'problems'?.....Well, yes, if anyone is finding it a problem.Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

I can't see if someone is on MSE (there used to be a green light). Has this function gone now?0

J_B said:But, where are all the other - ditto - posters? Gone forever? As a "regular" poster, I auto-subscribed to threads I posted on and received an email if somebody else posted on that thread, then no more emails until I read the post. Now I receive an email containing the post itself (often with embedded html code), so there is no need to visit the site. Plus, if the thread becomes very active (like the "snagging" one until MSE closed it), you get an email for every single post, and you can't unsubscribe from a particular thread. Bookmarks have replaced subscriptions, but you have to manually bookmark each thread. Or you can get a notification when anyone posts on any thread you have contributed to.I would inevitably browse other interesting areas of the site when I visited to read updated threads. Less of an incentive to do that now.Several backward steps there. Can't say I've seen an improvement yet.
