Agree with others that the new format is simply dreadful and totally unergonomic. Masses of wasted white space, massive unused margins, resulting in having to do two to three times more scrolling to get to the end of threads, or to find a particular post, which of course don't have post numbers any more! I'm finding it tedious in the extreme and won't be staying around unless there's a way to make it efficient and PC-screen-friendly, like the previous green version. As it is it's wasting my time.

An underscore has been used to replace spaces because the new forum software doesn't support that basic feature.

If ordinary letters and numbers have been changed it means that there were two accounts with the same email address and the forum used the one you didn't want. You can try this:

1. change the email address of the current one and log out.
2. do password recovery for the original email address again.

If you used more than two accounts you may need to do this more  than once.  Use  a different address for each account.

When I've quoted and replied to a post, how do I return to the post I quoted, so I can carry on reading the subsequent posts, from where I left off?

use your browser 'page back' function? (works in firefox)
