    I like it as well.
I understand that some people have issues with it, but to me they're not huge problems (at the moment) ... and no, I'm not belittling the issues people are having I'm just saying those issues aren't affecting me in the same way.

I am the worst techy in the world and have to get help with everything. I have been dreading the changeover and loved the old green format but so far I have coped with it. I have been on the new site twice, once yesterday and once today and am getting used to it. If I can get used to it then anyone can so please give it time. The only thing I have a problem with which has already been mentioned is that you can't hover over the title of the posted comp to see who the promoter is before deciding whether to enter or skip. You have to click it, open it and then decide whether to enter or not. I'm sure they'll sort it out.

It's obvious you are getting on ok but you don't need to jump on every comment that is not the same view as yours. You need to consider that people have different issues. I have fatigue and chronic headaches so this new look is a nightmare for me. And I am loyal to MSE, otherwise I wouldn't be here trying to get used to it. I've been registered since 2003 and suggested CD for people who are having a hard time but still want or need to comp. I also have severe OCD and am used to the routine and layout of MSE. I am not going to let something affect my health just because I feel loyal to it. I hope you understand what I am saying.

Sorry, it's me again.... Is there any way you can tell if you have already entered a comp posted before the change?
Was checking the end date on a comp I had bookmarked for entering daily, (Pretty much all I'm doing  until I can work out what the heck I'm doing!) and realised there's no enter / skip button like on other newer comps, e.g.

P.S. Is there a quick way to tell if you've thanked? I can only tell by clicking comp-liment and seeing if the number goes up or down.
    TIA

@grannybiker The VANS competition ended yesterday so it is now in Game Over, the Game Over section doesn't have the Skipped / Entered options (at the moment, hopefully).  All of the Entered / Skipped (on the main board) have come over from the old site, so if you entered it on the old site you should see it in this forum as entered (unless it's in Game Over)

If you want to check if you have comp-limented someone you can hover your mouse over the Compli-ment button and it will bring up a list of names, you should see your name in there.  Not sure how that will work if there's 100 people in that list though and you thanked 2 days ago.  It's on the bug list to make the button bolder if you've clicked on it.

Is the comp-liment button of any value, if it is not really a thanks button?
  • @mclarkie mentioned this on another thread, but there is a browser add-on for those that comp on a pooter with Chrome or Firefox called Midnight Lizard, which gives you the options to change the colours of webpages. https://midnight-lizard.org/home
I'm sure there will be an option to make blue things green and bright things dull. The new look is no issue for me so I've not searched deep but there's likely going to be similar add-ons for other browsers and formats if Googled.

Right. I have been on the comping forum for a couple of hours to do a bit of catching up, etc, and I am really close to giving up in defeat.
What made the previous forum fun and easy to use has just been completely spoilt.
You can't hover over a thread, see what it is, and if you don't fancy it, skip a competition, you have to go in to see what it is. It's time consuming.
It very hard to read. I've been getting headaches trying to read the font, and the layout is too bright. BRING BACK THE GREEN LAYOUT.
No thanks button, that comp-liment looks horrible.
Been trying to search comps, and when I do, I seem to get a list of every single comment in that thread. Why? I don't want to see anybody else's comment except the main one, which is the actual comp.
I accept that the old software was old and dated, but a lot of us responded to the suggestions thread with ideas of how to make it easy to use. Most of it was to update it, but keep the style it how it was, as the vast majority of us like the way it worked. It's like a lot of that has been ignored.
I know it's early days, and I hope that they will get round to tweaking it. But this section of the forum was very unique in it's style and was fantastic to use. It's like it has been treated as the rest of the forum and it shouldn't have been. That is what made it stand out from the rest of the competition forums in it's style and ease of use.
All this is seems to have done is pee a lot of folk off. I have seen a few comments on Twitter complaining about it, and the responses from the team have a sense of 'fobbing people off' about it, which I hope really isn't the case. They are going to lose members in droves if they aren't careful.
