No, they're saying they won't send you out YET ANOTHER V5C without paying. Especially since the last one they sent hasn't even had time to reach you yet.

If you want to get it sent to a different address, change the address on the V62. That'll change the address the car is registered to. They won't send it to an address other than the registered one.

Parking and speeding fines aren't sent by DVLA.

So - either somebody is going through all the post DVLA send out to nick your envelopes, or somebody has access to your post at your end and is removing the DVLA envelopes.

I know which I think's more likely, especially since you seem reluctant to answer how your post is dealt with at your address. Does it get put by the postie straight through your personal front door? Or does it go into some kind of communally-accessible mailbox or area?

No, they said that before they sent the last one. The one before that was sent in January. They said it will get to me on Friday at the latest, and it's a last ditch effort since I'm going to be moving out on Tuesday.

I just have no faith of it getting to me.

I apologise if I seem reluctant to answer anything.
The post goes into my front door. I've never had a problem elsewhere.
I'm simply asking for advice. What should I do? Do you recommend that I pay to have it sent to a different address? Should I wait until saturday and then try to get through to a manager?

You do realise the logbook has absolutely nothing to do with the the service book? If one existed then the dealer should have left it in the car. Never in my life have I been asked to prove ownership when having a car serviced or MOT'd.

Even if you were asked to prove ownership the log book clearly states on the front it can't be used to do that.

    I am the registered keeper.

How do you actually know that - the only place it is recorded is on the V5C. ?

Have you been in touch with Lookers ?

I rang DVLA, gave them my information, it matches up, they confirmed that I am the registered keeper.

I got in touch with Lookers today, they said they're looking into it and they're going to get back in touch. I haven't contacted them since reporting that I hadn't got my logbook within the first 6 weeks, since then I've just been talking to DVLA.

I do have proof of purchase and warranty etc, but a lot of stuff is missing.

Vendors tend to do your tax stuff for you before giving you the car these days.

3rd of February, which is to be expected.
However, they have not updated the address that they were sending it to, as it was correct.
After explaining this to them, they told me I have to pay them another £25 to continue, which is the reason I felt like consulting the MoneySavingExpert forums.
Well as it issued on Monday my advice would be to leave it until next week and see if it arrives.

Are you getting anything at all through the post from DVLA? what are you expecting to receive when you say "Log Book"? all the V5c is, as has been stated previously, is a two page form that comes in a brown envelope - it isnt a book, has nothing to do with servicing or repairs. if it is a service manual you are looking for then this has nothing to do with DVLA - service history is nothing to do with them.

could it be you have received a brown envelope through the door, thought it was junk and chucked it?

    …………….
I don't see how, as like I said I've gotten post from them for other issues with the same address just fine.

    ………….?

Were these for other vehicles you've owned. ? Anything for this one ?

I apologise, I don't want to come across as reluctant to answer questions, but I believe that I've answered them all previously.

Fact is I haven't got my log book or any paperwork from them and they don't track their deliveries, I have to move house soon and I have no paperwork to update anything, nor am I capable of renewing my tax when it is due in june. I am the registered driver, I've had post to my address concerning this vehicle, which I believe use the same address used for tax.

I don't know if I should go for a refund on the £25 delivery I paid for in January, if I should bite the bullet and keep giving them money whenever they ask for it, or if there's some other way of getting the log book.

I really want to discuss what my next step could be, preferably to avoid paying more. Whether my post was somehow vandalised or I haven't been eagerly checking my mail every day is irrelevant really.

    No, it's absolutely key.

You're alleging that DVLA are at fault here, because they've sent four, and there's been a 100% failure-to-receive rate.

How many do DVLA send out every day, week, month? What proportion of those do you suspect aren't received?

But, given that you're moving in a couple of days, why not just wait until you've moved, then use the V62 again with your new address...? I mean, even if the postie brought your V5C today, you'd just be filling in the change of address immediately, right...?
