You keep saying you need it for repairs, why?
Nothing goes on the V5 for repairs and you don't need it to MOT it. What makes you think you need it for these?0 -

I was wrong.
I basically have no paperwork except the receipts from buying it.
It is concerning to me, it's hard to keep track of what you don't have.
I rang the vendor I bought it from, they said they're looking into it since something else may have gone wrong, although they said that second hand cars don't tend to have service books anymore.
However it's a 16 reg, it probably should have had one.The only time you'd need the V5 is when you sell the car, or get new number plates, you don't need it for repairs or the MOT.
I know you can get it done, but I'm getting a lot of grief from various people for not having paperwork or proof that the car is mine on me0 -
On the DVLA where you check whether a vehicle is taxed - look down the page for the bit entitled "Date of last V5C (logbook) issued"
3rd of February, which is to be expected.
However, they have not updated the address that they were sending it to, as it was correct.
After explaining this to them, they told me I have to pay them another £25 to continue, which is the reason I felt like consulting the MoneySavingExpert forums.0 -
So the last logbook was issued by DVLA this Monday, two days ago...? It's not even 11am on Wednesday yet.0

You do realise the logbook has absolutely nothing to do with the the service book? If one existed then the dealer should have left it in the car. Never in my life have I been asked to prove ownership when having a car serviced or MOT'd.0 -
Wonder if Lookers are still named as keeper on the V5 and this is why you don't have it.
If so then paying £25 for a replacement means it will be sent to Lookers, not you.
Possibly a new car or one of the pre reg things where the dealer keeps the V5 for 12 months? If so then your insurance is possibly also invalid.0 -

It's the fourth time and they didn't update the address?"Every fine and speeding ticket"? I have to ask OP, should you really be driving a car?You do realise the logbook has absolutely nothing to do with the the service book? If one existed then the dealer should have left it in the car. But wouldn't that be an admission that the issue lies at your end?0 -
Of course they can change the address the car is registered to. Do you have another address you can use?
But wouldn't that be an admission that the issue lies at your end?
I don't see how, as like I said I've gotten post from them for other issues with the same address just fine.
Do you have any advice?0
