Polaroid Sound System

Some years ago our eldest son bought us a Polaroid Surround System which we had with our TV but we have just changed the TV and this doesnt appear to be compatible. It is an LG TV and on set up it showed a sound function for an HDMI ARC system. Can I adapt my old one to make it work like buy a new control mixer box or whatever or does it mean a new system complete.

How does the Polaroid system connect to the TV?0

Yep, we'll need to know what TV, and what 'Polaroid surround system' we're talking about, and what connections we're using. HDMI? Optical?0

If it is several years old it may be RCA connectors in which case one of these will be needed.

The questions in the link in my post #3 mention Yellow/White/Red connections, so the answer to the OP's question requires them to answer ours.

Sorry haven''t been well so not on here in the last couple of days. When my son gets home from work this evening I will ask him to look and come back. I do know the new TV is an LG 43UM7000PLA0

OK - your TV has ARC on HDMI 2, so if your Polaroid system also has HDMI, you plug it in there.
The TV also has SPDIF (optical) out, so if you haven't got HDMI, use optical to get the sound from the TV to the Polaroid...0 -
Have checked there is power to the system box , green light is on, and there are 2 leads Red and White which are connected to the red and white connection on the TV. I dont think system has HDMI. What do I do from there? I assume it is the SPDIF route but do not understand that so will have to wait until son gets home from work again. Thanks for the advice.0

I have just looked on E bay and Amazon and there are a number of HDMI to SPDIF Converters at a reasonable price available but is that the right way for me or do I need SPDIF to HDMI or will they work both ways.0

My son has checked it out and it doesnt have an HDMI lead and setting the audio to internjal speakers and Optical produces no sound. Can I buy a converter or lead HDMI to ARC.0
