Have spent £5.75 on top-up bread & milk and £81.03 on my Tesco delivery (with the £13 off code I found on MSE:money: )
Total spend therefore: £86.78 but next weeks' budget doesn't start until Wednesday - however, may only need to get some milk before then, so am doing ok so far.......:rotfl:

Saw Martin on Friday on Tonight with Trevor McDonald showing how to cut the cost of Christmas. Well because of these boards this is the first year I will not be overdrawn at bank. I have Christmas all organised and paid for. Saved for presents in Tesco account, saved £76 in jam jar challange and have top up vouchers for Tesco. Cut my grocery bill each month and that has been saved as well. I thought I was mean when I tried to cut down before but reading all your posts I now know its just careful budgeting. I have become a selective shopper for clothes and personal items. We borrowed money from our Isa's to have new windows put in instead of paying interest charges and I have put half of my share back into account already.
I am not crowing here just thanking you all and Martin for all the advice.
Thanks to you all I am solvent. OH is very impressed:j0 -

Hi everyone, can I join in please? This is my first MSE post!
My budget is £250 and I have already spent £100! That is for me, DH, our 14 month old boy and 2 cats and is to include food and cleaning products (including food I buy at work to motivate me to take pack up!).

Have just updated my sig and am please to be on budget so far, despite having to feed my MIL who is recovering from a minor op on her hand and can't do much at the moment. This was helped by the Co-op divy I got in the post- £5 off my shopping this week and I don't go there often so it was a nice unexpected bonus (which went straight into my PMS fund!)
I keep reading about people using online codes when doing an online supermarket shop. Am I being a bit slow - I thought these were only for Tesco? Cos if they are available for Sainsbury's (my nearest local) I would love to know where to find them! Do they work when you use MySupermarket.com as well?
Keep up the good work everyone.0 -
Hello everyone
So far in the grocery challange I am doing ok. Planned spend £70 per week a total of £350 so far spent £120 and still have £20 for this week for veg in the market. My new bread maker arrived on Friday so bread costs gone down dramatically and other food costs as well as kids eat hot bread when they come in from school instead of junk food.
We (two adults, two kids dog cat and guinea pig) need to cut down.
food previous
nov £354 already started to cut down
oct £581
sept £735 ( where did that go ?)
august £390 we were away for two weeks
July £448
Last december food bill was £518!
I have a chicken in the freezer for christmas day, frozen veg and value stuffing. Have ten pounds saved for nibbles on christmas day.
I am using a jar to collect every change under 10p for next christmas for food and presents.
good luck everyone0 -
Just realised I haven't checked in for this month! As I get paid at a funny time this month I'm running December and January together with a budget of £100 for the two months. Doing OK so far, although very unimpressed with Tesco today as they've been taken over by Christmas things at the expense of ordinary stuff - couldn't find fish fingers anywhere!!Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0
