Garage phoned, door handle arrived, they're working on it now.  But ... it comes in one colour and not the colour of my car, if I want it to be the same colour it'll have to go off for spraying.... no.  Look at it, the car's dented to farq, never been cleaned and is 14 years old.... I'll take it as it is   

Depending on the colour it is I might stick 3-4" of gaffer tape on it at some point in the future if it is, say, white/beige when my car's about a gun metal colour. 

I expect to get the car back mid afternoon.

Yep, ostracised, sidelined, pushed out, excluded .... because you were right and everybody had their ears closed.... "we don't need your negative thinking" when all you did was "just said something important".

That is exactly what is going to happen and then he will be annoyed with me for the whole of his two years posting which will take all the fun out of playing there.  I also know exactly what he will say and that is that when he did his training that is what he did.   Why can't people see that sometimes if you try a different approach you might make progress?

As you may know, I am just outside the official London boundary, I can literally walk to the sign that says "welcome to Hertfordshire" on the main road.
Normally people moan about this as it means our seniors can't get a free tube pass, our 6th form kids weren't eligible for free transport on London buses and a whole host of other discounts and stuff. Now we are all saying that if London goes into Lockdown we are still free!

Watch out..........you might be getting those dastardly Londoner refugees trying to break through the cordon! 😁

I have a load of Muscari/Grape hyacinths in bloom in the little raised bed in the front garden.  Reminded me, in the circs, of Monica Dickens in her book "One Pair of Feet" about being a nurse during WW2: "People wrote letters to the papers noting that even Hitler couldn't stop the daffodils from blooming, though it would have been far more noteworthy if he could."

I have never understood this obsession with things having to match in colour?  Why do cars always have to have bits that match other bits in colour?  When you are sitting in it driving along you can't see the non matching bits.  A car is a thing for driving along it isn't a work of art that you hang on your living room wall and gaze at.

Take socks for example.  I spent years trying to match up pairs of socks. All that wasted time when I could have been doing something much more interesting and then a few months ago I just decided not to bother anymore. This was before anyone mentioned the spectrum word.  My feet basically don't care if what is on them don't match. Plus my feet are not the same shape so even if I wear matching socks they won't look exactly the same.

Years ago a friend of mine used to: put his hands up to the side of his face/eyes like a horse's blinkers, look down at the ground, wiggle his blinkers a bit and mutter "but we've always done it this way"

In various spaces online in recent days I've been tempted to post the following: 

In days of old, when knights were bold, 
And toilets weren't invented.
We'd wipe our 4rse on a piece of grass

I just figured.... if I posted that on "no loo rolls" threads I'm be trampled on for my levity

I've already suggested to the kids that they move home! Far nicer for them to spread out here than be cooped up in their respective flats.

I have NEVER understood why shoes have to be the same colour.
Seriously.
Especially shoes that are sort of patchwork or patterned.

 Ok. As soon as I get parole from this lockdown, I am going to start wearing differently coloured shoes.

It will be my version of “I will wear purple”.
