Two things:-
The first thing is that there are a few things that I like a lot, which I have found through trial and error over a long time, and an awful lot of things that I don’t like, and wouldn’t want even if my preferred thing wasn’t available. So, it makes sense to get them when I can, and get a lot of them.
No-one knows if there will be shortages of things, or if prices of some things will rise a lot, but it doesn’t hurt to be prepared, providing you’re ok with having to eat loads of figs in a short space of time! 😁
The second thing is that I like to try and keep stocked up with stuff, because of having felt ill so many times and not being able to get supplies, and not having anyone to get them for me. I had been unwell a lot from last summer/autumn, and so my stock cupboards and even my freezer supplies had got very low.
So, it was killing two birds with one stone.
It was my fault....I hadn’t checked the best before dates properly when I was buying the stuff, and then found I had a lot of dried fruit and seeds/nuts all best before the end of March. I shall be more careful next time.
I promise. 😁

I managed to accidentally switch on notifications for this thread so I've had about 20 emails just this morning. I've had to quite quickly learn to switch them off again! I think it's the little bookmark tag when you're on a desktop as it was blue but now it isn't. I'll find out soon enough! No idea how I did it from my phone. It's a handy little feature if you've started a thread.
Good luck, PN. It does look like a lot of house for the money.
We accepted an offer on our house about three weeks ago so we've got two moves to make this year. Renting whilst we finish our self build and then back here, but 30 metres away.

PN the house seems to tick a lot of your boxes (apart from the obvious stairs one) and has a major plus that you will have funds left to make it as you want it/cover emergencies (and just because a newer house looks beautiful doesn't mean it won't have expensive emergencies).
Plus given what you said about the vendor's situation and your desire to move asap it could be a win-win. Survey, exchange and complete at 250 and you are in in a fortnight and they are sorted before going back to the US.I think....5 -
If it's not gone.... I think I'm just gonna buy it tomorrow.
Just do it.
I can't bear the thought of continuing to rent because one of the issues with that is that although I hate where I am, moving would be yet another pain in the butt, with handing over money etc etc.
Also, the plan was always to get a job, which I don't feel able to do here as I am not in the right frame of mind. So, not buying is costing me about £800/month in rent and storage + a month's salary from lost opportunity.
I'll just try to buy it tomorrow....7 -

The US was one I won't view. On at £295k, wrong area, needs a lot of work.
The one today though, they are bugg4hing off to Frogland for their retirement, so no chain. On at £280k.
But, in all honesty.... £280 is actually "fair" really. One could muck about a bit ... and I will start a bit under, but if it goes to that, then that's what it does. But not a penny more.5 -
