    God bless Aircon...
Did think of bagging some of the cool office air and bringing it home...
...but forgot to take any bags 😭
Nice to see a few familiar faces in person, but can't say I enjoyed the traffic on the journey in.
So, wimped out and left early to avoid the evening rush.

Leaving early sounds a good call

  • This all looks like great progress is being made and your new door would be fabulous with stars.

On your dividends you quote are these projections or actual figures which are annualised?
    DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff.    Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Thanks @savingholmes, I've obviously grown lazy over lockdown!🤣

@LadyWithAPlan, the dividends are actual, the projection is higher (I track the last year's payments to give me an idea of what we'll receive this year and update it as dividends are received).
It fluctuates as each month I divide the total received since the account was opened by the number of months the account has been opened for.

Front door stripped, sanded and washed.
Having a cuppa whilst I let it sun dry. Then will undercoat, bath and collapse!
Depending on how it looks, will fix any bumps and lumps tomorrow and then apply first top coat.
Started reading MF's diary after reading lots of good stuff that she's posted.

Our company is going green, so we've all been given a bee bomb for the garden.
I gave mine to next door for their grandchildren.
(It's a bag of seeds of plants that bee's like - not an anti-bee device in case you were worried)

Well done on the front door. I think things like that are so satisfying as you see the results of your work every day!

    Thanks SH.
I don't know what the paint was we used last time, but the paint stripper just turned into a thick goo.
This was fairly easy to scrape off the flat bits, but murder on anything not flat, like the panels and two small windows at the top.
Sanding it was also a nightmare, it just seemed to heat up and clag the sander!
After over 4 hours of hand and machine sanding my hands felt like jelly.
If it wasn't for MrsG and her cups of tea and accompanying "have you sanded that part yet?", I don't know how I'd have got through it! 🤣
To be fair, I also got a bacon sarnie for breakfast as well.

Had a lovely home made Chinese prawn curry for dinner and watch Harry Potter in a tent with some popcorn (us not Harry!).
One more to go and then we've finished the original films.
This is our least favourite, as it's basically setting up for the big ending.
I do wish we had magical tents in real live though...

Right, better finish my coffee and prepare for the first coat of black paint.
Hoping it will only need two. So second tomorrow morning before work.

    Have a great day all!

I now have a streaky black from door!
Turns out water based paint on top of oil based primer isn't a good idea to do next day. ☹️
It will be ok, the oil undercoat just needs a couple of days to dry out properly.
So will be another light sand with finest wet and dry and a second coat Tuesday morning.
Probably need a third coat as well.

I could style it out as a Cruella De Vil door... but maybe not!🤣

Dinner tonight is now sausage rolls, new potatoes and peas due to a slight defrosting issue with the chicken.  So roast chicken will now be tomorrow.

Will also see how Harry gets on tonight, will he finally beat he who should not be named?
Must admit, nor expecting much to change since we last watched it!

Sounds like very hard work. Hope you get the result you want soon...

Just catching up, going down to one car has saved us a small fortune, especially since we are working from home! Far better and never really is an issue if each other's plans are known and communicated haha. There has been the odd day I have had to walk to pick up my son from nursery, but it's only about a mile away so not bad.
