    what you, and the house, are missing is appropriately sized windows. 

    I was hoping the OP could answer, since it was them that said 'another one' . Probably not a house but a flat, as there seems to be a walk through where it connects to the adjacent building.

    There have been a few posts recently featuring new-build houses with very small windows. It's been theorised that it's a cost-cutting measure, and/or because energy efficency ratings calculate window area to account for heat loss, so smaller windows will give a "better" rating.

    I don't wonder if increasing density of building on new estates is causing builders to run into planning issues regarding windows overlooking other properties and gardens, too.  The simplest way round such a thing would be to eliminate windows from certain faces.

    Indeed, yet the OP's previous post some mins before was on the position of guttering. Hence my query.

    Possibly but, without identifying the property, we have no idea how copious the windows are on the other elevations in each instance.  One was identified and it had plenty.
