Those windowless houses are just downright peculiar.

Is it in some areas or certain developers doing it ?  Not sure i've come across it myself.

Yes I think so, but seems to be spreading, I first saw examples 3 years ago in Gloucester.  Sometimes there is a bizarre logic to them e.g. ones like in the picture above might be the backs of garages and I guess some people don’t want windows in the garage.

That's a lot of house and grounds for the money.  But even if someone gave it to me I would not be able to afford the running costs and maintenance.

That is an absolute bargain when you see some of the small houses with hardly any gardens that cost more than that. 72 acres and a moat !  Perfect house for a reclusive 70s rock star

This was bothering me so much I looked them up on Zoopla 😂.  The first floor windows are maisonettes, round the back they have ‘oversized garages’ so on that side it’s all hard paving and wheelie bins.  The houses that do have windows downstairs access their built in garages at the back as well.  The maisonettes’ gardens are in front of the property, but I guess not many will want to drag their furniture out of the oversized garage to sip Chardonnay and look at a blank wall…..

I love everything about that except for the canopy. I appreciate all the period features, but keeping the canopy was a mistake.

The moat is marked as an antiquity (funny writing) on present day Ordnance Survey maps. It's possible to identify some of the moat on Street View if you know where to look with the help of this 1952 map and it probably hasn't seen water for a long time.

I'm not sure how much of a selling point  "complete with single garage" is on a property this size.

Perhaps it never had water and was always dry, except when there was a heavy downfall or snow melted quickly.
