Here's a rather special place - England's most remote house, along with 1,200 ha in the lakes

Skiddaw House is fab. We walk past it quite often when coming off fell walks and I've been inside too. I'd love to buy it- it's been on the market several times now over the past few years- though obviously I hope whoever eventually does will keep it as an independent hostel. One of the loveliest locations ever at all times of year but simply stunning when the heather is in bloom.

So they added the land and upped the price to 10 million.

I hope you have some decent acreage and not a postage stamp sized garden.Woolsery said:joho said:A blast from the past - a garage with a car (and not much else) in it; the TV in a cabinet and a phone in the bathroom. All very quaint.
Is that a pet cemetery at the bottom of the garden?
Brookhill Street, Stapleford, Nottingham NG9, 3 bedroom detached house for sale - 62941075 | PrimeLocationIf it is a pet cemetery, it wouldn't bother us; we have two horse burials!
The most remarkable thing about that house is the size of the RSJs holding up the garage roof. Possible upward extension that never happened?0 -
Yes, the horses aren't buried in the garden, but the cats and the ferrets are. We plant a tree or a bush on top, to identify and protect their resting places. The original owner of this property buried their dog at the base of a cherry tree we had to fell. As the digger removed the stump, a shiny object caught my eye, which turned out to be the dog's ID tag. No other evidence of the burial was found, and we returned the tag to the dog's owner.lea_uk said:

All horse burials must be inspected by the council. Ours were done before we occupied the property and the council were 'a little tardy.' I think they were at least 4 or 5 years late, so there was nothing to inspect.....but we have the certificates!

Indeed. They've thrown in (as it were) Skiddaw, Great Calva and Little Calva. It's all open access land (and all part of the NP) so there'd be a limit to what you could do with the land. Mind you, I'd love to 'own' my favourite mountain...Patr100 said:

Here you are, the chance to go off-grid before the power company makes it compulsory!
Idyllic, or what?
