When you use a comparison site it usually just asks if the property is within X metres of river.Dandie89 said:
Insurance Companies seem to mostly use the Environment Agency's flood map and this property appears to be on the higher side of the river and not marked in blue at all.[Deleted User] said:0 -
I would want to look up the planning history of that site. Clearly no planning permission for residential use, and in any case is living on a thin strip of land between an A road and a railway line really that idyllic hideaway?Woolsery said:Here you are, the chance to go off-grid before the power company makes it compulsory!
Idyllic, or what?
With no planning and unlikely to get it for residential, about the only legal use I could see is for a 5 van caravan site licenced by the Caravan club or Camping club, not needing planning permission. You might go unnoticed living permanently in a caravan then.1 -
They went to the effort of building a fake chimney, but then didn't think to hide the flue inside it.4 -

Workin' at my home ev'ry night and day
And got me some more minutes sleepin'
Stayin' in vid-ya conf'rencing.
Seasons keep on turnin'
Log fire keep on burnin'
Livin', livin', livin' in a new build.
Drew a lot a graphs for meetins
Pushed my little pen down on Cannon Street
But I never saw the good side of the city
'Til I hitched a ride to a new estate clean.
Seasons keep on turnin'
Log fire keep on burnin'
Livin', livin', livin' in a new house...

If you had the money to update it sympathetically it could be lovely. All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)1 -
The reality is a single track line with a max of 2 small trains an hour and a fairly quiet A road, so tolerable, but at this time of year being in the valley bottom renders the land boggy, and it's a shady frost pocket too. There's a number of these little 'developments' around here and the council gets around to dealing with them eventually. I'd guess if individuals don't mind roughing it, a few years without the usual rent and tax burdens might see them quids-in with a deposit, provided they get their investment in the site back +inflation. Could be a big ask for the next few years, if not longer, thoughProDave said:

Always find comparables. You can ask, but you won’t always get what you want.
