My guess is poor ground, possible made up, knowing this the house and garage have been built on piled foundations so they have not moved, but the poor ground has sunk since the build?Think it's on part of the redeveloped potteries industrial area. At least it's not over a coal mine....though on second thoughts maybe one of those might be handy right now!Bet the neighbours are bricking it.

Redrow (the developers) are blaming Severn Trent, who in turn are refusing to accept responsibility and are pinning the blame on the developers - All in all, a right mess with the home owners stuck in the middle. And a couple of interesting maps.... https://discover.hubpages.com/education/Stoke-on-Trent-Is-Sinking-Into-the-Thousands-of-Disused-Mines-Beneath-ItIt would appear that the ground under Stoke-on-Trent is riddled with coal mines, and subsidence is a major issue across the area. Quite possible that these houses on Boatman Drive have been built over some long since forgotten coal workings.

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.5 -
Something similar happened in our old town (Reading) a few years ago. The issue was related to unmapped chalk pits (Reading was historically a brick-making town). Awful for everyone effected of course.

Aside from the questionable looks, that must be a very awkward house to live in.

Thanks rigolith. I completely misjudged the thing, I thought the bit you can see was the whole house! Like a tiny wee 2-up-2-down sort thing.Against that, it isn’t actually too bad…I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.0

When you absolutely must have 2 separate front doors in the space for one door:

A relative used to live in this house. Although it was a normal size and shape house, I always thought it was one too many squeezed in to the development, stuck out in front of all the others and with a tiny back garden.

It looks like a Friday afternoon jobber - Ah man, we haven't left enough space for the carpark! Bet you I can get one more house on that bit. Pffft, bet you can't. Bet I can!
Link please rigolith, I wanna see the inside....
Very strange use of the plot, maybe they intend to jam more houses in there. Here's the application:
RIBA accredited """architect""" and everything.
The final design was the cack-handed way to get the parking at the back of the site. The elevations aren't the clearest and I can only imagine the planning committee didn't understand them well enough to realise the abomination they were approving.1 -

Imagine coming out of your front door everyday to be confronted with the neighbour's garage wall 5 foot away.
The one below it looks like they decided to cram in an extra house so the garage had to be moved on to the pavement with a really weird twin side entry design.
