We have a hatch. It used to be a door before we had our first kitchen refurb about 40 years ago. We retained it when we had our second kitchen kitchen 20 years ago. Now considering another kitchen, and not sure about the hatch.   

We value it mainly because of the view from the kitchen into the back garden that it provides, the extra light it provides into our dining area, and the fact that we can see through to the front of the house from the dining and study areas of our open plan living room. We don't use it much as an actual hatch

Nice house but I really dislike any narrow room that has "facing sofas" as in pic 13. Too "dentist waiting room".

Oh and I have something constructive to say - as you're teaching grammar in your sig, it's "its" not "it's".
