This has been on the open market for years with 2 estate agents and it's finally going to auction https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/53125864?utm_campaign=property-details&utm_content=buying&utm_medium=sharing&utm_source=copytoclipboard#/&channel=RES_BUY
It had already dropped about 100k before being listed at auction.
Pic 12 - times have been difficult for Noo-Noo since Teletubbies was deemed too racist for the BBC.
Perhaps I'm missing something, but I would have thought a being of questionable gender with an extendable protruberance at the front and a tendency to make slurping noises while hugging people would be right up the BBC's alley?

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but the teletubbies are still on the BBC.

Ah, I wouldn't know, having stopped using their services a couple of years ago. I found two genders exciting enough....

    Diesel central heating????
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heating_oil#England,_Scotland_and_Wales

I wasn't sure of the typical consistency of heating oil either, but apparently for commercial installations it is diesel, and domestic ones use kerosene (I suppose you could call it "jet engine central heating" if you wanted it to sound more exciting).
So would that have been red diesel and now you'd have to rip it all out and start again because you probably won't be able to use red diesel anymore?
I suspect the whole site is going to be flattened, so the type of heating system isn't going to be of great concern!
I suspect you are correct. I hope whoever buys it just builds one replacement family-sized home though and doesn't chop it up into a few plots to build more lego- style houses with tiny gardens...

I don’t see how this works as a development proposal?

The point is that Ashington is not an area with high house prices. Indeed, there are quite attractive houses being sold for less than they would cost to build. This one for instance:

    https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/84046188

Over 1000 sq ft, and just sold for £160k, ie £160 psf. House building costs at the moment are more like £300 psf.

I see that new builds in the area are selling for around £300 psf, and no doubt there are economies of scale when building an estate, but it doesn’t look like an obvious gold mine.

Perhaps one of you experts can explain please?

No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

    Well, it's Kirton, innit!
Wonder if they have planning for the viewing platform; it's somewhat above 0.3 m! Take the Tarka line along the Yeo valley near there and you'll see a few rural ones that bother nobody, but that one is taking the pee with neighbours.

I love the internal decoration of the snug as well, but I did wonder what was in the double garage?

You're a bit obsessed with those. It's hardly a difficult engineering feat, but it may not be necessary anyway. In the world envisioned by many of our leaders, people who live in small dwellings like these will have no need for personal transport in the future and they'll hire vehicles when required. Read up on the World Economic Forum's web site. Their plans seem pretty much on track to me! :D

Not difficult to engineer, but difficult to get permission for. They will have to have a cable crossing the public footpath, and ideally a post installed for their parking space. The spaces aren't numbered so I hope the ownership is clear.
