I'm quite impressed at the dedication to hanging the washing out on the line in that garden. It must be quite a task to hang it so it doesn't drop low enough to be lost in the grass!

CCTV camera on the front is a bad sign too.

Why do people arrange their lounges like that? I see it in a lot of new build show homes too.

You have to awkwardly twist your neck to see the TV, for hours... Or just stare at the fireplace.

Actually, I rather like the quirkiness of it. Don't think it would put me off (if it was in my price range). Mr S would agree with you.

Indeed. A fun little cottage just lacking in garden space and a cellar.
Also has a quaint outside privy & shower.
Her courage will change the world.

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.

My late Grandparents' sitting room was laid out similarly, albeit with a 20" Hitachi CRT television appropriate to the period; I remember that specifically as it seemed huge at the time.  There wasn't a great deal to do at theirs, so I did spend time sitting on the settee placed perpendicular to the set watching television.  It really didn't cause any problems, from what I remember.  I certainly don't recall thinking that it would have been better to sit in line with the screen; the trick was to turn one's hips and lower body towards the television.  I suspect it's even less of a problem with flat-screen tellies, which are far less sensitive to viewing angle.
Another thing to note, as regards the Southwold cottage, is that the estate agent appears to have used a warping lens to take the photo, one which makes the front room look rather longer than it actually is.  Checking against the dimensions on the floorplan, it appears that the television is only actually a few feet from the window end of the settee.
