Not sure how practical it is in actual use but what I do think is quite clever is the hanging netting/mesh behind the sofa. Gives some privacy  if the front door is open from peering doorsteppers but without the cost and permanence  of an actual wall or solid partition.
I looked into buying a property with a similar layout and was put off by having the front door coming into the living room. I was thinking partition walls etc and it didn't cross my mind you could just pop a netting there. That does look really nice

I’m struggling to see how the upstairs and downstairs floorplans bear any relation to each other here

It is pretty difficult to match it up with the photos as well

Edit: Actually the number of windows on the walls between the photos and the floor plan doesn't match up. Note that there are separate staircases for both bedrooms. My guess would be that the rooms upstairs are on slightly different levels. My guess would be that 'back bedroom' is above the dining room with staircase leading up from photo 3/7. This bedroom is shown in photo 5/7. The front bedroom then comes up from the staircase in the hall, photo 6/7. To the left of the front bedroom in 6/7 there are either two windows that are not shown in the photos, or there is another room on the other side of that wall that sits above the front door door, belonging to the neighbouring property.

That's just my guess based on the photos and the floor plans.

The second bedroom for this otherwise long and thin house appears to overlap with the house next door (which isn't for sale)

I'm not sure its just netting, I think it maybe a sliding door  with clear panels as well as the stringy curtains.

Bit of a drop out the back door with a couple of bricks to stand on.

Might well be flying freeholds where one property goes over another’s ground floor. You then have an agreement as to who is going to own which bit. Common in old cottages. Fun to do the conveyancing.

I think this is the first property here I've seen with it's own prison cells.

Seems to be a huge amount of water pipes in the basement with multiple pumps too, wonder why?

    Guessing its
Many recent renovations to the house over the years including radiant floor heat in most of the first level
so each room has its own pump and pipes?
