Less on-topic, I wonder if that loft room is legally a bedroom, as there is no door to it. The cottage is described as '4 bedrooms', and there are four other bedrooms. But, I presume the 'upper level bedroom' is what is in the loft space at the top of those stairs.0 -
Not a house, but I think a 'have a look at this'

Wonderful part of the world and lovely house but I agree about the staircase in the annex. I'd deffo not attempt it after a whiskey or two!

'Father' (BTL'er) says that he can't sell his house (rental property) because TFL have plonked a big toilet in front of it. He's had to (gasp) reduce the asking price, and has had only two viewings in three weeks.
https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/toilet-tfl-brett-kemp-purley-b2620062.html
Here's the listing on Rightmove. Which doesn't show a toilet at all. So, I'm not sure how the toilet would stop viewings.
https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/151955885#/?channel=RES_BUY
BTW: The toilet isn't in front of the house, as can be seen on Google Maps. There's no house behind that toilet.
He bought the property for £385,000 in 2013, which means that if he sold it for £635,000 he would have made 4.65% interest per year (before CGT), plus the net rental income for that time.
On Rightmove, the property looks quite 'property developed', though the garden is in a shocking state. I guess that some investment has been made in that refurbishment.
As well as a standard charge from a well-known building society, presumably for a mortgage or remortgage in 2016, there's this (redacted) restriction in the property register for this property.
Cut and pasted; spelling errors as per the title register.RESTRICTION: No dispositin of the registered estate by the proprietor of the registered estate or by hte proprietor of any registered charge, not being a charge registered before the entry of this restriction is to be registered without a written consent signed by <Property Development Company> of <Address> or their conveyancer.
The landlord has lived only a few streets away, since 2000, in a house that looks similar in class to this one.
The article says that the landlord is the owner of an oven cleaning company, but Companies House only has him as a director of a now dissolved financial services company. Though, he does turn up on a page of an oven cleaning company, that offers to put you in contact with a local specialist, of which he is one such listed on that page.
I used this newspaper article as an exercise in digging for information about a property. And, it seems that there's a very large amount of info that can be found. If I didn't have to go to sleep I'm sure that there would be more that could be found.
I've redacted information, but this 'story' has been in a very large number of newspapers, quite a few of which give either the landlord's first and/or last name.1 -
I suspect what he can smell is the “stink” from when the drivers previously used those bushes - which presumably he never knew about and so didn’t hurt him. I know which I would prefer though! 😂🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
