Some of those photos are out of focus... And the pictures hanging on the wall (pic.21) look to be on the huh. That would drive me crazy,
Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

Yes. It would take a careful look to see if it's structurally sound. Which I think I mentioned above. I'm not saying that it's guaranteed that someone could make it work for them at £600K, just that given the uncertainty about its structural soundness that it's possible. I didn't say probable.lincroft1710 said:
@ProDave thinks you would be lucky to renovate that for £100K and I tend to agree. If that place was detached, it would be "send in the bulldozers".RHemmings said:
I don't, which is why I put 'If that was true' in. Given recent sale prices the property in good condition should be worth at least £800K, which would still allow quite a bit for renovation.lincroft1710 said:
I wouldn't trust any Zoopla estimates.RHemmings said:Zoopla estimates the value of the property at £933,000. If that was true, then it would actually be worth it at £700,000 as there's still £233,000 to renovate the property with.
No, I'm not saying it's a bargain. But, it says something about London prices.0 -
The problem with a house like that is not "where do I begin?" but "where do I stop??"RHemmings said:

If the basic structure is OK (certainly an unknown and not incredibly likely), then surely you stop when the budget runs out, and make choices to stay within the budget. To make that liveable is going to take a big budget even with the cheapest kitchen and bathroom from B&Q, so probably stop when it's liveable but full of cheap everything.lincroft1710 said:

(General note - B&Q kitchens are hideously expensive compared to many non "high street" kitchen vendors)
As you were1 -
I've seen £5 kitchen cabinet doors on ebay (though, on searching now I can't find them), but that house has nothing worth saving to attach them to. I like the moneysaving idea of just changing the doors if the basic carcass is usable, as was the case in one house I viewed. But, not for that Nelson Road property.Martico said:(General note - B&Q kitchens are hideously expensive compared to many non "high street" kitchen vendors)

Do you have an example non "high street" kitchen vendor? As I've googled and found some new companies I wasn't aware of (e.g. Magnet), but I can't see anything significantly cheaper than the cheapest at B&Q.Green_hopeful said:Any train fans with a big budget. https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/140530544#/?channel=RES_BUY
I really like what it looks like, but am concerned that it will get very cold during the winter. I guess if you can afford the house, you can afford to heat it.
Personally the bushes trimmed to the shape of a train engine is a nice touch.0 -
If you go for the budget flat pack range, the units are comparable in price to say DIY Kitchens - You do have to assemble and fit them yourself (or pay someone to do it).Martico said: (General note - B&Q kitchens are hideously expensive compared to many non "high street" kitchen vendors)

Well it has made the BBC - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-67369595
The estate agent reckons a house in good condition on this street would sell for £1m so perhaps you can afford to have B&Q fit the kitchen after all (if you believe them).Never take a stranger's advice. Never let a friend fool you twice.0
